Hi all! Remember when the last sticky post said there wouldn't be any more updates to the main variants? Turns out I lied!
For anyone that wants to know the technicalities behind this update: I kept being bothered by something about the textures, until I finally realized that the main scar is in two different locations across the vanilla files that make up Shadowheart's head texture, which was carried over into my mod. This weird discrepancy results in the scar splitting in two on the bridge of her nose, since the normal map and the HMVY aren't aligned. It's not super noticeable, but just enough that I'd thought there was something strange about the scar's appearance while playing unmodded. Never put two and two together until now. This discrepancy is now fixed in this mod's files, and the scar is now in the same location across all three texture files. This should get rid of any weirdness under certain lighting conditions or when she makes certain expressions.
If there’s any other variants anyone would like, let me know below! I’m pretty open to making new versions if even one person wants them, so feel free to tell me.
Did later patches somehow change the textures of Shadowheart? With no mods installed, when I pick her in character creation, she has no scars. Her skin is also cleaner than what I remembered. I thought it was the result of a mod but nope, my mod folder is empty
Oout of curiosity how come you disable the download with manager button? I mean I can manual download and import to vortex and links just fine but I don't quite get the point?
I don’t use Vortex myself to mod BG3 (I use BG3MM), and I wasn’t 100% certain how Vortex would handle loose mods, so I disabled it out of precaution. I knew I wouldn’t be able to provide support if anyone had problems, and I saw that many other loose mods at the time were doing the same. If you can confirm loose mods download fine using the download with manager button though, I can always reenable it!
Yes, it still works! I tested it out yesterday. Since it’s a loose replacer, it shouldn’t break with patches or need any updates. If it ever does, I’ll update accordingly.

No problem! And I can certainly try! I haven't edited the textures to give anyone more prominent freckles before, but I think I know how to go about it. Give me a few days to see if I can whip something up.
Just uploaded a version that gives her more prominent freckles as well as scars! Let me know if you prefer the freckles to be darker or lighter, and I can adjust them a bit.
I absolutely love this mod! I completely stumbled across it by random chance and I wish there were more mods with the similar mantra of enhancing an existing feature rather than replacing. It adds so much character to her face, but blends so subtly that you wonder why this wasn't already the default.
The only other variant that would be neat to see would be an half-n-half combo of subtle and prominent. By that I mean all the small scars being subtle, but with the big slash scar increased to prominent.
Thank you so much!! I'm so glad you like it :D I was truly in shock when I realized just how many scars she actually has, only for them to be so light. They reflect the life she's lived so far, and it's such a shame they're so faded by default.
And that's such a good idea for a variant! I can't believe I didn't think of it before, so thank you for suggesting it! I'll definitely make it. I think I should be able to get it out tomorrow.
Took a lot longer than anticipated (sorry! life got very busy all of a sudden) but I finally uploaded the half-n-half combo! It's the new mixed variant.
