you are literally the best. in years of constant modding, i've never found a mod related guide to help me learn to sculpt, no one ever made one. but thank you, for spreading the joy of art and creation

Thank you for this guide! It was very thorough and helpful.

Unfortunately when I pak my head and place it in my mods folder, my game crashes on load? It doesn't load up at all. Before the in-game mod manager would recognise it but no head would show up, but now it doesn't load the game at all. I have no idea what the problem could be, I followed every step and tried several times from scratch.

Thank you for such thoroughful guide and detailed template ♡

Although I hate to bother you, but I wanted to ask if you ever had the problem with abscent face\head? I'm doing everything step by step, but don't have luck so far... I just can't understand what am I doing wrong... It's just empty space instead of my head :I

I had that happen a few times for myself. I think every time it was a bad file path and/or something goofy with my export from Blender. The last time it happened, I had forgotten I changed the head parts names in Blender.

Thank you for making this. I think it's the easiest one to follow so far!

Would you consider making something similar for custom races? I can almost get there picking through your Dhampir mod, but there's just so much stinking code lol

(specifically I want to make a "race" mode for the soul purpose of using custom body textures on a Tav.)

    Hi Weeviljester,

Thank you for the huge and tedious work you achieved for the community.

I finally created my first asset, it took time to understand the process after viewing several tutos, but your step by step file really made the difference !  <3 <3 <3

ok im back again to thank you again.  I dont know if its just because the way you type is in a way that just clicks in my brain, but without your breakdown of all the files in regards to coding, i dont think i would have been able to upload anything to the game.

i find the resources that Padme and friends provide GREAT, but because I am going into editing heads BLIND it has been hard to find thorough explanations or anything to explain things to me like i'm a child.  sot hank you again. I'm still looking for a good tutorial to help me splice together a good head, and to explain all the files needed for heads (DDS or CLEA etc) but this has been a great start.

thank you so much.   your template was so thorough and i cant believe it worked. i only had to correct myself ONCE. (because i forgot to put .dds after one line)    I had been trying for days to test this out with hair and get a single hair for a single race and body type up and couldnt do it.

(so.... if you.... had the time to make one for hair.... )

but damn. thank you so much

Hey so I feel like i pak'd everything correctly but for some reason when i export load order to the game it completely rewrites modsettings.lsx to be blank and can't figure out what i'm doing wrong.

Hi WeevilJester! Thanks for this, I've used it a few times and it's been extremely helpful for understanding the code structure, learning dependencies etc.

I do have a potentially silly question, as part of an ongoing troubleshooting quest of mine: towards the end of the merged.lsf.lsx, (line 2446 and on, shown in the screenshot) I see the values for ELF_Foxglove meshes. Perhaps I missed an instruction earlier in the code, but do these need to be changed/replaced, or do these not have much bearing on our custom head? Thanks in advance for any clarification.

Those mesh names shouldn't matter, that's why I didn't put any notes there :)

That's what I thought! I appreciate you taking a sec to confirm. Thanks :)
