What is the difference between Monsters and Combat exp? Aren't they both the same?

What is Progress, Background Goals and General exp?

What kind of exp is given from discovering a new area, completing a quest or from earning inspiration?

I've enjoyed this mod in an Honour-Mode MP game with friends. We went with A08 (All) which is DOUBLE xp. We've completed everything in Act 1 minus the Grymforge fight and the Spectator. We will hit Level 8 after either of those fights. We are concerned this may reduce satisfaction with the next 2 acts  as we will surely hit max before Act 3. We run a party of 6 which reduces the difficulty as well. The point of this post is just for advice to any future readers. If you run a party greater than 4 and/or have any other mods that increase overall power, I would actually suggest x0.75 or less, depending on the # of mods that reduce difficulty.  Just an observation after using the mod for awhile. Thanks for the mod MaskedRPGFan!

Is there any way to add a x7000 multiplier to the file that adds it to the whole game without breaking the game?

Works like a charm boss , thanks
Now off to the modder that made the .pak file that is supposed to make it so that you can level to 390 but only lets you level to 20.

It works as good as can be expected but I am trying to find a level mod to be able to see how far one attack and kill will take you. Do you know of any? Looking for a level mod that is not that difficult to install and will hopefully take me to levels in the 400+ range.

Sadly no. The only one I am using is unlock level curve and has lv 20, so far from what you want.

I recently installed the x3 multiplier but it wasnt enough for me so i switched to 10x that was significantly better but still not enough. So i swiched to 100x but now, since i removed the 10x when i load any save it sais that a mod was recently installed and now its not anymore and that could lead to the game being unstable. It then asks me if I wanted to proceed but if i click yes it doesnt do anything. I turned the 10x multiplier back on but it didnt change. What shall I do now?

Last patch (5) made modded game hard to use, because game engine do not let you uninstall any mod. You need to load save before you installed mod or just use current mod with changed file inside pak. If you want to, I can make x10 who works like x100 for you.

Do you know of any recent issues? The Mod (currently using 1.25) doesn't appear to be working anymore. Also tried 2x but no joy.

I'm pretty sure it was working post patch-5 but just noticed the problem today. I'm running v1.1.1.2. I have the Compatibility Framework and ModFixer enabled. Does it matter where your mod is in the load order?

    Thanks.

      Hi :)

Please try with new game to be sure. The easiest way will be a quick test with the first fight at the beginning.

I did. I first noticed when I started a new game with 1.25 in place and they "hit the beach" they were still L2 (instead of L3 like before). So I disabled the mod, started another new game, and they hit the beach with the same XP. I then tried with 2x (new game) and same result. I use the mod that gives my main the spells to quickly exit the ship so I don't bother with the initial fights.

This is really odd because it's worked fine even recently, and all I've done is disable a pile of mods I wasn't using to "clean things up" a little.

I checked modsetting.lsx and the XP mod entries are in there.

I did a quick test for you and mod works as intended. What I did:
      1. Installed Customizable XP Rewards - A08 - All x 2.0
      2. Started new game and run to first fight with 3 imps. The one where Lae'zel join you.
      3. Killed imp from image below (the last one) and got 20 XP:
      Spoiler:
      Show

      4. Did the same as above but without mod and got 10 XP for imp. I used Tactician mode in both.

Please tell me how much XP you got from imp :)

Yes, I also tried that and each character did get 20xp.

So just for kicks and giggles, I tried again this morning. This time I took a closer look at the log.

I'm not sure if I'm interpreting this correctly, but according to the log the characters have earned a lot more than the 330 XP they had after hitting the beach and I resuscitated Shadowheart. And I am still kicking myself for not taking a copy of the log since I suck at math and need the whole thing.

So I'm disabling the mod that gives me the "shortcut" spells to get off the ship, and I'll let you know. But it looks like the Tutorial Level Exit might be the culprit. I will let you know soon.

Edit: Nope, not the Tutorial Exit mod. Still L2 and 330xp total after hitting the beach and reviving Shadowheart.

I see. Let's do another test:
Install Customizable XP Rewards - A00 - All x 0.1 to make XP small. Put mod as last one to be sure it will override all changes.
Start new game and kill imp. Tell me how much XP you got from him.

Will do but I *think* I"m seeing correct number when XP is awarded.

I ran a new party and carefully jotted down each time the party earned XP:

Got 20 for each imp, 6 each Hellsboar, 150 for the Commander, 150 for the treacherous Mind Flayer. Adds up to 502, then another 10 and I forgot for what. So 512 total just before activating the helm.

Once on the beach, it says Tav and Shadowheart have 377 and 223 to the next level; i.e. L3 which needs 900 total. Again, I suck at math, so maybe I'm making an erroneous assumption somewhere, but this seems wrong.

Edit: Ran with the .1 version and got as expected 1 xp for an imp. Also ran new party with 7000 (All) and as expected hit the cap quickly and after hitting the beach still had 100,000. I have no idea where the problem is.

It would appear so. I also tried 6x just to see where the "sweet spot" is to yield the same XP as 1.25 after hitting the beach and it's still short of L3 by 170 XP.  I did reenable the Tutorial Exit mod (got tired of fighting the battles over and over), but last attempt will be with 10x XP and the Exit mod disabled.

I ran it again at 10x, this time levelling to L2 before the Helm battle. Afterwards, I had enough to level to 3 during the fight (1502).

After hitting the beach, I was able to level up to L3, so yes, something is amiss regarding XP awarded after leaving the tutorial. 10x is going to be too high (I presume I'll be levelling way too fast).

Such a champion across multiple games, thank you so much for your amazing work. Huge fan here.

If I may I ask, what is the difference between "Combat" and "Monster" XP? Is there a set XP amount for each battle regardless of the enemies slain?

Also, I don't suppose there's a remote chance for a 0.33x Monster XP version? I'm using Savage Doubled Enemy and tripling my monster spawns, but I'd like to keep my XP progression as close to vanilla as possible. Totally understand if you'd rather not.

The community really benefits from your contributions in a major way. Keep it up!

      I added x0.33, use B027.

I am not sure, but Combat is all XP that you will get from a fight, not counting when you kill a monster. I suppose there is additional XP after an important fight or sth like this. Not sure, though, since I just used the existing groups.

EDIT: seems i forgot to elevate with vortex, getting old. problem solved sorry for false alarm

okay so i have a question, how do you uninstall this mod.

I have it for a playthrough with friends but when load up my own save (with this mod disabled), i still get the XP halved, eventhough i thought: "It seems that the game engine freezes XP rewards for monsters on the map."

this doesn't seem to be true at all from my experience.

Hi! I have a question: Am I right in assuming that the first Main File "All" affects any and all experience gain, and makes it unnecessary to download and install the other mods under it?

Exactly. Get other files only if you want to change a particular reward, while keeping others the same as in the main file.

Why are you using the double exp patch ontop of this patch which also increases exp? Not sure if thats your issue but that would be my first suspect. Im sure a double exp + 100x exp patch probably causes conflict when run together

Game does not work like this. You do not need 20 lv rewards, Unlock Level 20 mod do not have anything that changes xp rewards because it is not needed, so it works fine with my mod. I am using  Unlock Level Curve fine without problems.

So what was the solution? I read that changing XP progression/ level thresholds mid playthrough is a bad idea.

UnlockLevelCurve does never mention changing XP gain during a game, only level thresholds. I'm using it right now and have no problems at all. Just remember to not use any additional XP modifiers. (Double exp from Unlock Level Curve optional file for example)

Edit: Choose 1.25 multiplier if you forgot to install rebalanced NewScale XP curve Patch from ULC. It's almost the same result. Sometimes slower for one level, other times faster. It balances itself out quite good.

@hutzi63 Regarding Double XP (or NewScale) from UnlockLevelCurve - the information mentioned in the above comment about incompatibility is not correct.

Since Customizable XP Rewards only modifies the ExperienceRewards.lsx file, it is compatible with the base version of UnlockLevelCurve, and is also formally compatible with the NewScale and Double XP versions. The latter 2 patches modify only XPData.txt (and Data.txt).

The only potential problem is exceeding the XP value set in the Data.txt file.

For the sake of clarity: from the comments to UnlockLevelCurve, it appears that Double or NewScale patch is compatible, but nitram166 suggests sticking to one method.
