IMPORTANT EDIT AFTER PATCH 5.0 (NOVEMBER 30, 2023) AND BEYOND: It has come to my attention that BG3 may have changed the compression format for all .wem files from WEM OPUS to VORBIS. When you're creating your .wem files or converting your audio files back to .wem files using WWise, try VORBIS instead of WEM OPUS, and try each compression format if that doesn't work, otherwise your file will be silent. Refer to paragraph How to convert .wem files into listenable audio files: for more information.

Edit (March 2024): According to @outlawzgosu, setting Vorbis Quality to 10 when you're creating .wem files in WWise will crash the game in version 4.1.1.4251417. Appararently, leaving it at 4 works fine. I can't verify this, but keep this in mind for future reference.

I no longer have Baldur's Gate 3 Installed, I uninstalled it back in September, so I am most likely not going to update this mod any further, which means that video and image assistance will not be coming, but you can submit USER VIDEOS or USER IMAGES which I can approve. If the .bnk method ever truly does get figured out, or Larian release Modding Tools that let you edit .wem files and names, then this mod will become outdated, but I don't think this guide will ever become obsolete so it will remain up.

Original Post September 30, 2023: My original mod got removed by an administrator for containing Copyright music. I saved a copy of my Description, and NexusMods sent me the BBCODE. I reuploaded the guide here, because it remains extremely useful and the example .wem files were never the purpose of the mod. Videos and Image assistance will be coming in the future (however not right now). Updates to the guide and future mods will be significantly slowed down until I find motivation to continue.

The head is Toarie's Kai, found at https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/205 created by Toarie. The hair is Ellian's hair, found at https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/1394 created by Hijimare. Ellian's hair is currently hidden while the author updates the mod page information, but you can see the images of the hair at Hijimare's profile. Hair, eyes colors, and horn color, are found on my About Page ( https://www.nexusmods.com/users/177681528 ) as well as the expanded full size image of my profile picture.

Ah its that head, I've seen it before but never got it. I swear you made it look cooler, at least it looks cooler in your avatar than on hijimares page. Thanks for the quick response by the way, have a good weekend!

    This is great!

If trying to hunt down a precise track, it also works to run Windows Process Monitor on your Baldur's Gate game process after unpacking the SharedSounds.pak etc. into loose files and putting them in their place in the game's folders. Open your game, start the process monitor, play the music or sound you want, stop the process monitor, save the log. There will be something like 100 sounds accessed in a short time (the logs will end with the file names), but that's way faster to check through than thousands of files.

You can also filter out the background sounds by running the process monitor without playing the desired sound, then removing anything in your second list of "exclusion" sound files from your first list. I ended up with about 40 to manually check this way.

I'm sooo close to replacing a bard song track this way, my problem was converting my new track to the .wem format that the game will play correctly (it was just silent when I tried), so hoping your method works, thanks so much for the guide!

The recommended way of extracting game files with the multitool is to use the option under Utilities => Game File Operations => Unpack Game Files instead of using the Blue Box. The recommended method is faster and less resource intensive. The Blue Box has to move the files after unpacking, which can take a lot of time if your Temp directory is on another drive.

Sorry you had to recreate the description and everything, it's quite detailed. Thanks again for amazing work! I posted on a collection of IDs on the last mod right before it got removed, so I'll drop it here. I'm not sure how some of these are implemented into the game (if at all). I mainly used Borislav's YouTube page and compared them to durations in Foobar.

Thanks for sharing these ID's with us, this was exactly what I invisioned when I created the guide. The names of each .wem file ID would be found a lot quicker with the community working together rather than not. If I didn't upload the Battle Music ID's, I'm sure you would've, as you were halfway done already.

      Cheers.

I really just want to replace the generic battle track when you assault civilians or fighting other inconsequential enemies since the theme used for these fights gets really stale after a while
