This mod alters the unique staff Pale Oak, which is only received as a reward for completing a specific Act 1 quest as a Druid. For roleplaying reasons, I wanted my character to use it for as much of the game as possible but found it a little underwhelming for that purpose. This enhances Pale Oak as a melee weapon, more than as an alternative to casting since I'm playing a Ranger/Druid multiclass, but more melee-focused pure Druids like Circle of Spores should find it helpful too. I'm not pretending this is terribly balanced for a weapon you can receive so early, but it doesn't outweigh more powerful items you can find even as early as late Act 1 if that's a concern.
Specifically, this makes it a finesse weapon, because Druids (and certainly my Ranger/Druid) often have a higher Dexterity than Strength, adds a +2 enchantment, and increases the rarity to Very Rare. Additionally, the "Faithwarden's Vines" spell has changed from simply being "Entangle" with a long rest cooldown to only requiring a bonus action to use and only a short rest to recharge.
Optionally, I've included a file that makes Pale Oak do 1d8/1d10 damage instead. I checked the definition of Shillelagh and it makes any weapon it's used on use 1d8, so I thought it was reasonable to increase the damage die since this is meant as an alternative to Shillelagh for more physical characters.
Only install one version; they will conflict with each other.
There is another mod that alters Pale Oak, Powerful Pale Oak, which seems very well made, but the changes it made weren't what I was looking for in terms of making it a viable melee weapon. However, if you're playing a spellcasting-focused Druid, please check it out!
