    Since there has been rekindled interest in the mod as of late, let me address some concerns:

    Q> Does this mod still work? 
    A> Yes, but it may have more errors. Errors in this case refer to texture issues (See other sticky). This mod can't break your game as far as I'm aware. You can look at some of the bug reports to see some of the textures issues. There are people who still use this mod today and are perfectly happy, but you have to decide if the trade offs are worth it.

    Q> Would you consider updating it?
    A> I'm not playing BG3 or modding it, so I don't really want to update this. If I was to do it again I would be packing everything as new virtual textures entries to take advantage of the shaders and to avoid any UUID collisions with other modders or with any larian update. That's a lot of work.

    As always if someone wants to update this or modify it any form they are more than welcome to.

    Several issues with this mod:
    1> As larian adds/replaces/updates textures it will cause this mod to become more outdated.
    2> no cloth/metalic non-VTEX shaders.
    3> There is a new option with repacking VTEX, but I haven't experimented with it YET.

    I'm not working on this mod ATM, but if anyone wants to take over, you'd need to do a lot of XML redirects. Its a pretty big task, and you might want to wait for larian to cool down on updates before undertaking it.

    I heard a rumor that this was getting an update to cover the additional new textures added by Larian? True? False? Maybe?

      The above information has been included within the BG3 Texture Upscale Project (BG3TUP). Not your mod, so you may want to reach out to the author since it looks like they've misunderstood something or got wrong info.

    guys, i have a problem and idk if this mod has something to do with it since i installed a lot of new mods recently

    some of the clothing textures are messed up if i dye something. for example gortashs shoes. if i dye them furnace red and black, the cloth part isnt red, but also black, which wasnt the case before. or some parts are just missing.  does anyone of you have the same problem?

      How did you even remove the mod? After adding all the textures to the generated file, the only way I see would be trying to find each individual file and deleting it which would take years.

    Has anyone else encountered a bug where the armors keep flickering between low and high resolution textures? I'm only in Act 1 but seeing it happen with the druids and Shadowheart's armor is pretty glaring.

    If it helps, it only seems to happen during dialogues.

      Yep, trying my Minthara refined mod and the first dialogue Act1 in Goblin Camp armor changes textures on the fly depending how she moves and how camera changes position. No experience with modding but I think it's game's fault with LOD priority rather than this mod.

      That's what I was suspecting, meaning the issue was with the game itself rather than the mod. However, I have no idea which graphical setting (or if there is even one) I can tweak to prevent this (besides the Animation Level of Detail or the Texture Quality, as it still happened even when I lowered them).

      I have this happening, too, so I tried taking this mod out completely, and it's still a problem. It's most likely the game itself, but don't quote me on that lol

      Been looking around trying to figure out this exact issue myself and landed here. Can confirm on a quick test that removing this also resolved it for me.

      What I didn't test before removing it though was loading the vtex_to_tex later in my LO so not sure if that would have made a difference.

      yes LOD issues are a bug in the base game, but are exacerbated (made worse) by having HD textures.

      How do you even remove the textures after you've dumped the generated folder into data? It's too much for me to manually remove, I'd have to go through a million files.

    Is there any way to remove this mod after I've already dropped in the generated files into data? I don't like that so many of my clothing options are now blacked out.

    When using this mod, texture on armor and clothing keeps reloading from low res to high res and back again during cutscenes. Disabling VTEX to TEX solves this problem. Not sure why this is happening. Running a 3080Ti with 12gb vram. 
    I tried a clean install, changing all graphical options (usually run them at highest possible on 4K) and only disabling the VTEX mod solved this for me.

    I am completely new to upscaling. Just tried it for fun with Chainner and one armor mod. But each time I tried to change the textures i got black textures in game. Did I make mistakes on the image format when saving ? For BM I used dds with format DXT1 4bpp linear and generate mipmaps and nothing else.  Do I need to separate alpha for mipmaps ?

      You want to use whatever texture format they used initially you can check for the DXT1 DXT5 or DX10 or use microsoft tex diag. You are correct in you want to avoid premultiplying the alpha, however DXT1 images rarely have alpha. This is why checking the format of their texture would be helpful.

      Make sure you are using the legacy mode for DXT1 to avoid getting the DX10 header (don't use the one that says BC1, you want the one that says DXT1 (under legacy compressed).

      Finally you want to make sure if there is data in the alpha channel you aren't losing it along the way with chainner. Oftentimes it will premultiply the alpha at certain steps, to avoid this completely you can "split transparency".

      Thanks for your insights. I figured it out before reading your answer, yes that was a transparency problem (i suspect during the final resizing) which was fixed by splitting alpha channel and upscaling separately from RGB.
      On another note I want to try some VT conversion for one of your upscaled armor (as soon as I have a bit of time). Which armor looks "bad" without the VT shaders ?

      Has anyone tried this mod? Does it work after patch 7? I used to use this mod back when BG3 came out and I loved it. I'm back to try another play though as my original save doesn't work anymore and would love to play with these wonderful mods. Would love for the creator to look into if they have time to update it.

      oh yeah that is a thing now :hmm: I need to look into it when I have the time/drive. I did a little experiment but I wonder how it will feel about so many being packed...

      Hi, have you had any luck getting virtual texture tile sets to show up correctly? I've gotten at least one of my custom VTs to show up in-game (the others are solid black). The mipmaps are buggy however and create black squares upon zooming in and out... 😞
