Dunno what to tell you. I've removed mod fixer from all the mods that had it within their archives, and they now work perfectly. Also most of mods updated to patch 7 have simply done the same, without altering anything else.
From what I've read, the game explicitly ignores forcedrecompile.txt now, which is why Mod Fixer itself isn't causing issues, but since this mod both includes its own version and uses a different name, it's not getting ignored.
I tried removing the relevant mod fixer txt from this using multitool (as I've successfully done with several other mods) but I kept getting an error on trying to remake the mod with multitool (something about the meta.xml? - way beyond my pay grade).
ipaid4winrar's console command above worked though (in the BG3MM console, while having the character whose illithid powers you want to respec selected).
gurugeorge you need to change the version64 value to an acceptable one in meta.lsx 68472654139072512 for example will work. remember to change both instances of the value in the file (you can open it in notepad).
But yeah, thanks for the console command nevertheless ipaid4winrar ! did you really pay for it though?
did you have tried a respec? No error message during starting game, but the respec is doing a never ending loop.... I have the Mystic character class pack... Tarinia
As of today (2025-03-12), it works fine in Patch 7.
When I tested this mod about a year ago, there was an issue where the middle persuasion ability (a basic ability that you have without having to eat additional tadpoles) would be 1 less when respec'd,
but now it is refunded in the correct amount.
I think Larian patched the function that is performed as a result of Osi.RemoveAllTadpolePowers(character) during the patch process.
Thank you for uploading a great mod.
Oh, of course, since it was an old mod that had been uploaded, I unpacked the mod, deleted the story folder, and deleted the mod fixer.
Does this actually undo the consuming of tadpoles? As in, will the game "see" you as having never eaten any? (they added consequences to tadpoling like halfway through my current game when I'd already used two and I'd like to not be forced to eat the astral one)
As many people have said, respecing your ilithid power removes the central "ilithid presuasion" node and does not refund the parasite as it never required one to get. This means each time you respec you loose one tadpole, which is a huge waste of a very non replenishable resource, id rather have my tadpole wasted on a skill i wont use rather than wasted on nothing at all. Sadly no other mods offer this functionality, and while i know this mod hasnt been updated in a long time and probably wont, but the loss of a tadpole on each respec is way too big a loss to make this mod practical.
Good intention behind it, but poor execution at the moment. Hope it can improve.
This is wrong. It gets refunded, you can doublecheck this in 5 seconds. The only issue with this is that if a character refuses to use tadpoles, you can't insert the center one back and supposedly they won't be able to use illithid wisdom persuasion in dialogue but maybe that's just flavor text and they still can.
What I don't know is if it gets refunded if you respec *before* you unlock illithid powers in act 1. I'm doing a playthrough so I will verify this soon
EDIT: Verified, respeccing before unlocking tadpole powers in act1 works as it should - the companion starts with the center tadpole as normal
got mod manager and had it download and install the extender then went to file -> import mod, double clicked the zip for this. manager says that im missing script extender and then game wont even start after hitting play on launcher...help plz
i got it to run from the manager but no illithid respec happens
you can't use the Mod Manager for the script extender, you have to manually place it in the correct file. It doesn't overwrite anything, so when you want to play online or without mods, you can easily just move it elsewhere out of the folder, and than place it back in later.
I literally just used it for that while rebuilding my mod list yesterday and it worked fine. I can't speak for mid-april but this statement is no longer true as of posting. You do however need to export the mod list and run it once to get the SE running. Then export again whenever you make changes before launching the game. As to OP's launching issue, 9/10 that's a mod conflict/load order issue and they just need to mess with things until it works.
So I just downloaded this mod and installed it into the same folder as the script file and it did not work. How come there aren't better instructions for installing this mod and getting it to work?
