Announcements Version 1.0.2: Since the way the crystal gives you the spell container changed, you will lose all buffs on updating the mod, but the counter won't reset (so you cant cast new buffs). Simply drop the crystal on the floor and pick it back up to reset it.
Hello, installed the mod, its at the bottom of load order, all seems okay. But i cant find the crystal anywhere. I even started a new test campaign to see if it spawns in the original tutorial chest. No luck. Im on patch7, but bg3mm is updated . Thank you in advance
Would it be possible to make it so once you've chosen the "enchantments" you want, thats saved as a preset which you can cast with a single spell? Or have it auto cast them after a long rest?
Now your buffs will be reapplied automatically after a long rest, except weapon enchantments.
Weapon enchantments are a lot easier to apply now though, because you can still use them even when at the limit, since casting them on a new weapon (or a different element for elemental weapon) will remove the old enchantment anyway.
For now, spawn in a tutorial chest or add the crystals via script extender
I dont see any tutorial chest in my inventory or companions nor do I know how to add it via script extender. I'm using the bg3 mod manager and I've already did the "Download and Extract Script Extender" aaand... thats it. I'm an actual noob at this stuff and the bg3 wiki doesnt really help so I appreciate if op or anyone can help me with this.
The tutorial chest is the chest in the room behind shadowheart on the nautiloid. Modders used it since the dawn of BG3 to spawn their items and give players access to it.
Its definitely too cheesy with the way damage reduction works in BG3. Plus all the spells are self-cast only, which obv doesn't make sense with Warding Bond.
I have no clue what pf wotr stands for or what the bubble buffs mod does.
This mod doesnt change anything about concentration. It just makes it so you dont have to swap out party members for wizards or clerics to buff and then swap back, taking several minutes - which you can do now in a few moments. The concentration is only gone when you use my rebalances. The whole point of the limit mechanic that I spend a lot of time getting to work is so you DONT just blanket yourself in every buff imaginable, but say "oh lets keep it at 3".
PF: WOTR = Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Bubble Buff is a QoL buffing mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/pathfinderwrathoftherighteous/mods/195. Buffing is so much more of a headache in the Owlcat Pathfinder games (game leveling goes to 20/40, way more classes/subclasses/mythic classes -> way more variety in buff spells) so it's a real godsend of a mod letting you automate the specifics of who casts what spells of what levels on who. It's the first or 2nd most essential mod for the game along with Toybox (a do-everything mod).
I guess my mod is somewhat similar. It may evolve into something more than it is right now, but even in this state, it should streamline the process of buffing a lot, if you were camp casting before you used my mod.
If you weren't camp casting, then my mod may make it more appealing by:
Allowing the buffing to happen much much faster, so if you avoided camp casting because of the tediousness
OR if you avoided it due to balance conerns, you can choose to limit yourself with my mod
OR you didnt know what it was and now have a much nicer way of trying it out
Oh, one last thing about bubble buffs, you can separate out all your camp casting long buffs and your pre-battle short buffs so that one triggers upon entering a new day and the other is on a hotkey for whenever you want to trigger it. It does make you feel absurdly powerful when you get it all up and running with a well-built party, but then again it's necessary on harder difficulties as the enemies get ridiculous too (I have a certain AC 68 superboss in mind).
I think the original commenter is alluding to this always trigger-able short buff functionality as well. Imagine spammable non-concentrate full-party bless as an example of what they might be thinking.
Hm, it definitely sounds intriguing, but the way spells work I dont think I can bind it to a hotkey like that.
But I also think its probably impossible to get to even a semi-balanced state. Bless is really really good, and giving that for free would be insane. Even if I somehow steal a spellslot (or if you have none another resource) just the action you dont lose on turn 1 (while still having Bless) is a huge issue in BG3. And thats worse for other buffs.
It already warps a battle quite significantly if you buff Jump before a battle. And I think its fine trying to time that 60sec you got the buff (especially with cutscenes and stuff), but making it a one-click-you-get-all-of-the-buffs? Would almost forcefully include a +100% HP buff to enemies (I play with 200% HP bonus on tactician + honour ruleset, single save is a huge no-go as modder)
Not saying im unwilling, just I think the benefits are heavily outweighed by the risks, so putting work into it would be a huge gamble, while I got another mod cooking (actually my first ever BG3 mod, finally coming to pass), seems like a bad plan.
I don't even think they're quite asking for it, seems the original question was just a raw probing query. I myself am not asking for it, just giving a bit of context. There's already been a lot of discussion over if 5e concentration is the right solution to spell spam or not. There's another whole conversation over if tabletop buffs are too powerful when computer automated.
Regarding my example of the cantripped Bless spam: This is not a general Pathfinder thing. There's a mythic path (uber power-fantasy class with its own progression) called "Trickster" that breaks the game in half with a ton of silly feats. One of them gives you a metamagic called "Completely Normal Spell" which when applied makes the spell cost one slot level less. The obvious route is to make all level one skills into cantrips so you can bubble buff spam all sorts of level one buff spells at will. Still somehow one of the less broken things Tricksters can do despite it enabling a wild variety of new cantrip spam.
"Would short-buff automation would be a good idea to have in BG3?" Maybe just as a side feature? The list of useful/essential pre-battle spells is just so much smaller than Pathfinder:WOTR. I'm casting two Dread Overlord (modded warlock subclass) buffs pre-battle in BG3 which might save me a couple seconds per fight while in WOTR, I'm casting tens of spells before challenging fights saving me multiple minutes. As for my current BG3 camp casting, I've been using the EasyCheat mod to auto apply most camp-casting spells, but this mod also supplements with the more specific ones, weapon buffs in particular.
Does this also include Longstrider, Aid, and Heroes' Feast? I noticed that they're missing from the list on the description. If not, are you planning on adding them?
Aside from that, this seems like a great quality-of-life mod! Will definitely use it and endorse after so, so many hours of creating hirelings and making them camp casters...
No, because you can cast longstrider as a ritual anyway and so many classes get access to it. If you have my mods one makes longstrider AoE too so you just press the button once and everyone has it.
Aid and Heroes Feast are already AoE by default and you really want to hit your summons with those, so usually they are cast after you leave the camp and everything is grouped up.
The mod isn't there to give you a full array of buffs, but rather all the camp-castable ones. Usually thats just Darkvision, Protection from Poison, Freedom of Movement, Death Ward. I added more because those are available with my rebalances.
Also the whole idea is to not just make it easier and faster to prepare buffs, but also to artificially limit yourself, in order for buffs to not get completely out of hand and impact the balance of the game too much. Thats why I added the limit. The limit is adjustable solely because I knew people would argue "2 buffs is enough, no 3 is perfect, no increase it to 4" and I cba to deal with it, so I'll just let the players choose.
Gotcha! Totally get your reasoning, and it's not as though applying Longstrider, Aid, and Heroes' Feast in particular is all that much of a pain. For me personally, it just means I'll have to make just one hireling with those spells, as opposed to two hirelings with the whole suite of camp spells. And with how I have other mods that make Longstrider, Aid, and Heroes' Feast permanent buffs, I shouldn't have to repeatedly apply those buffs after every long rest with said hireling. So, this mod will still definitely help streamline things, as well make things a bit more difficult with a limitation of buffs!
Now, to find a mod that makes Warding Bond a concentration spell...
I added a section in the description as you are 100% not the only person wondering about this. I also added links to mods to help (from my collection).
Warding Bond - well I dont use that spell, because I think its a bit broken. However, if you use it "responsibly" (aka both members are in the active party) then it not being concentration is obviously a good thing. Though the idea of it being concentration and the pair of act 2 rings giving you a concentration-free version sounds quite fun too.

Need to investigate if its possible via stats only or if it needs Osiris Scripting.
