That being said, I have been working on an update for the mod itself. I've made a BUNCH of new ethereal form colors for you to choose from. There are 2 new baseline colors (orange and necrotic, a variant green color). In addition to these 2, there are now 3 additional variants of each color for you to choose from. I will update and post these all tomorrow.
Also being released tomorrow will be a Banshee "Lite" variant main file. It will have ONLY the 1st level "cantrip" wails, necrotic ethereal form at 3rd, Harrowing Aura at 5th, and necrotic shadow step at 6th. The variant colors for the ethereal form/shadow step will be optional downloads to replace the necrotic baseline. This one should be available by the end of the week. After that, I will be working on a banshee mod that doesn't require Ghastly Ghouls as a prerequisite. This one will be uploaded to Mod.io as well to hopefully one day be available on console.
Okay, so I'm trying something different for this race to get around the Passives Select issue that seems to be prominent in this patch. Instead of selecting which Ethereal Form you want at 3rd level, I'm removing them from the core mod and making them a set of optional mods so you can select which color.
Levels 1-3 work fine, but for some reason it is hanging up when leveling up to 4. I'll see what I can do to get this working.
UPDATE: So, it would appear that the SelectPassives bug also effects my SelectSpells. That means at levels 4, 7, 10, and 12 the game will get you stuck at the level up screen. There are generally 4 options on how to resolve this until a permanent fix is found:
I select a handful of banshee wails and only allow those to be unlocked.
I take suggestions by you all on which banshee wails are unlocked at 4, 7, 10, and 12.
Add all of the banshee wails at those given levels. This makes the already OP subrace that much more OP, but it SHOULD allow for the subrace to be played.
I spread the banshee wails out over the levels, slowly granting their use. Just as OP as option 1.
i dunno, i never felt this race is OP... on the contrary, I feel the once per battle restriction on the lesser wails should be removed. Lesser wails should be something all banshees are casually capable of just like normal cantrips.
Is it normal to have two Undead races? One has the subrace for banshee and the other doesnt. Im fairly certain I dont have any other undead races installed

Is it possible to have the banshee wail without the spellcast audio? like cast the wail and you only hear the scream. instead of casting, hearing the spellcast dialogue, and THEN the scream.
Ah man, I just realised this existed and was so hyped til I realised patch 8 borked it, lol. It looks like great fun, though! Eagerly awaiting a fix, I wanna run a banshee next.
Also as an answer to the sticky, I'd probably go for option 4 for the wail implementation until the permafix hits. I mean, realistically, if someone's downloading an OP race in the first place, they'll probably either have one of the difficulty mods to make combat more challenging anyway, or if they're like me, they have fun steamrolling the combat.
Hello! im having some issues, im a cleric/banshee (i know weird choice) but as soon as i got off the ship and landed on the beach i can't level her up. I click the level up system, but it says "choices need to be made" and it wont give me any choices. PC - Patch 8
I haven’t had the opportunity to get this updated for Patch 8 yet. The parent mod, Ghastly Ghouls, is having issues with the lich subrace with Patch 8. The I used the lich subrace as a template for the banshee (hence the floating), so that most likely is cause. I’m currently working on a standalone banshee subrace for elves. Whether they float or not is up in the air. Depends on if I can get that to work. I may make it without the floating initially and have a patch later for it. Go ahead report this as a bug so it can be tracked.
I have the same problem w/ the Lich+wizard combo I was playing. Def. an issue w/ p[atch 8. Unsure if it can be fixed, peek at the comments on Ghastly Ghouls.
It's a common bug, apparently. See the sticky at the top. Nothing we can do currently to fix it until Larian addresses the issue. I'll be releasing an update to temporarily address it, although I'm not too fond of it.
I absolutely love that you made this! This is the exact thing I've been hoping for ever since I saw Ghoul's race mod.
Question/Request: is it possible to add the constant blue spectral glow we see on some ghost NPCs (such as the girl in the artist questline) and add body type/customizations for the standard elf model rather than the custom undead body? Or would that remove the lich's flying animation? I think it could really help sell the Banshee/ghost fantasy.
I like hearing that something I made was something someone else wanted too. :-)
I’ll have to dig in and see what effect you are talking about. I recently figured out how to potentially make more ethereal form colors, so that’s something coming in the future. id probably make the glow a toggleable thing, or a selective passive (either you want it or don’t, or both).
As for the floating, it’s currently linked to the lich. Ghouls was kind enough to assist me with the floating for an elf body (I’m working on a mod.io-capable mod by making an actual elf subrace), but until I can figure out how to get that to work with the toolkit, as well as get new undead textures for the elf body, it will have to stay with the undead body. It IS in my “hopefully I can do it” to-do list though.
I suppose I could make one or a more cantrip-level shouts to pick from besides Numb. A lesser Shatter wouldn't be too overpowered. Would definitely be a 1d4 cantrip track. I'm always open to suggestions.
