Night Piercer SE Installation Help If you encounter a mod conflict or just want to give both spells to other caster classes, you're going to want Night Piercer SE. But for it to work you'll first need a few framework mods that are used by tons of other modders and players alike. Just follow these steps...
1. Script Extender: Grab the latest release HERE. Just drop that single DLL file into the folder it says and you're good to go. 2. Compatibility Framework: This mod is found HERE and installs like any other mod. 3. Community Library: A required mod for Compatibility Framework found HERE.
With these three installed you can now install Night Piercer SE, but one last thing. In your load order make sure that Community Library is all the way at the top and Compatibility Framework is all the way at the bottom at all times. And that should do it!
PATCH 7 READY * Please note that while "Night Piercer" is fully patch 7 ready, the "Night Piercer SE" version requires Compatibility Framework and Community Library which still need to be updated for patch 7 (as of 9/7/24). It currently works for me but it may not work for everyone until those updates come out.
The damage boosting addon was no longer working for some people (thanks Larian). I removed it and added two new "Boosted" versions of the main mods. So if the boost addon is no longer working for you, uninstall both it and your main mod then install a boosted version of the main mod.
For anyone with patch 8. If you have current version (2.0) in your mod list and use main file (add to cleric spell only), death domain will not appear, but other new subclasses will show like they should.
Is it safe to assume this isn't compatible with "Mystra Spells"? I have used this mod in previous campaigns with 5e spells, but i just came back to the game after a few months and mystra spells seemed like the way to go. Unfortunately i can't get this mod to work and i dont have mods that affect cleric, so i can only assume its Mystra's
just realized i grabbed that mod from mod.io and it doesn't use SE. i'll switch over to 5e which will most likely fix the issue....lol
edit 2: nvm it still didnt work, removing MS. not sure what could possibly be conflicting. the spell doesn't appear in the feats options either.
Have to say, I loved this spell and the lightpiercer too on my 1st run with Shadowheart. Thank you! My second run though, I used a mod that started Shadowheart as a paladin. I do not see the Nightpiercer cantrip though. I assume it is because they both modified the same files? Anyhow, I wanted to mention it in case it happens to anyone else, or something like that. I was trying a mostly swords and steel run. 2 barbs, a paladin, and a wizard this time.
So I downloaded the boosted SE version and the multilight addon. The boosted SE works just fine but the addon doesn't, even though I have it below on the load order. I don't have any other cantrip-related mods installed so I wouldn't think it's a compatibility issue, and I've moved them around on the load order to no avail. Am I doing something wrong? :\
You’re not doing anything wrong most likely. Larian changed something in the background that made the addons stop working for some people. I have no idea what they did to cause it and I can’t really support it anymore, but I’ll leave it in the old files section for anyone who can still get it to work.
So odd finding. The ML still refuses to work no matter where it is in the load order, but I discovered the following: if it's above the boosted SE main file, the modifier damage bonus applies to both night and light piercer but I can't use light piercer despite the icon being there and clickable/not grayed out (clicking the icon starts the animation of readying the cantrip but then it cancels out); if it's below the boosted SE main file, only night piercer has the damage boost, but I'm able to actually cast light piercer.
Weird.
Edit: Deleting the ML entirely gives the boosted damage to light piercer and I'm able to use it. So that fixes that problem. I'm sad I can't multitarget with it though.
so I installed the every class version then realized it was intelligence based which I guess makes sense? kind of a bummer though noticed cause the accuracy was trash lol, guess I need the cleric only version. Great mod though ty, love the visuals and it's thematic huge fan
The SE version is not Intelligence only. It will use the primary spellcasting ability of whatever class spell list it’s learned from. So if you’re a Bard and learn it through a level up it will be Cha based. If you’re a Cleric, Wis. However if you’re let’s say a Bard but you use the Wizard magic initiate feat to learn the cantrip, it will be Int based because it’s being taken from the Wizard spell list.
Your mod looks great so I downloaded it but just want to check something. I use the Master Class custom class and was wondering if your mod will work with it or does compatibility need to be added to this mod ?
Just to let you know I've downloaded the SE version and using the multilight addon. Plus I've got compat framework at the bottom and commun library at the top like you specified.
Totally new custom classes is the one thing it's not going to work with unfortunately. This mod adds the cantrips to all of the caster class spell lists (Wizard, Cleric, Warlock, etc). It wouldn't be feasible to add the custom made spell list of every mod made custom class out there.
Thanks for the response, wanted to try and let you know sooner in case you couldn't respond but I got it to work.
The custom Master Class mod is made pretty much from just taking all the strongest spell lists from all the vanilla classes and put into the class and it's subclasses so I think that's why it's able to work with this one. I just had to use a feat to learn spells from one of the caster classes and was able to get the spells. They are great, thanks again.
Oh right I forgot about the magic initiate feats. Yeah it doesn't matter what class you are if you take one of those because they use their respective spell lists that Night Piercer has been added to.

edit: "didnt work" -> no Death Clearic available, the Cantrip works.

Edit: Tried both versions, same result.
