About this mod

This is a homebrew subclass heavily inspired by the Flagellant from Darkest Dungeon. Thanks to Fenragon for the name and the idea to make it a paladin subclass.

Level 1.

Undying Armor

While not wearing armor or holding a shield, you can add your Charisma, Constitution, and Dexterity or Strength (whichever is greater) modifiers to your Armor Class.


Undying Health

While not wearing armor or holding a shield, your hit point maximum increases by 1 and increases by 1 again whenever you gain a level in this class.


Penance

Bonus Action and Channel Oath Charge to activate.

Your max hit points increase by Paladin Level + 5, and your Armor Class decreases by 1. 

Whenever you take damage from any source, you gain one stack of PUNISH! up to 10, which adds +1 bonus acid damage to your melee weapon damage. PUNISH! stacks last until the end of your turn.

Once per turn when you take damage from any source, you receive Slashing damage equal to your Proficiency Bonus at the start of your next turn. This damage will give you a stack of PUNISH!.

Once per turn when you hit an enemy with a melee attack, they must succeed on a Dexterity Saving Throw against your Spell Save DC or receive the Acid Condition (-2 AC) for one turn.



Level 3.

Improved Penance

When you reduce an enemy to zero hit points, you regain 1d4 + Charisma Modifier hit points. Increases to 1d6 at Level 7, and 1d8 at Level 10.

Lasts indefinitely unless dismissed using a bonus action.

Enemies within 3m must succeed on a Wisdom Saving Throw against your Spell Save DC at the beginning of their turn or receive the Compelled Duel Condition for one turn. Allies within 3m have resistance to all damage. When they take damage, you take the same amount.
