Update dropped. Tutorial chest version is in the optional files location.
I've heard your complains and Ill look into putting the mod in the musical instrument slot as a trinket like "JWL's Discordant Instruments". Dont know if I can get it out soon but I also dont want it to be in the gloves spot. Ps, puting it in the trinket slot might mean removing a few stats as I gave it bonus stats to compensate for the fact that you can no longer wear gloves if you want to keep the book
Hello, looks like a good mod, really appreaciate that u put it in a game world first instead of a TuT chest. Before i try it tho, i have one question. When u mentioned the insane nerfs, did u mean ur version of demonomicon or vanilla spells that it contains? My main concern that it will conflict with my other spell mods
Ill add it to the desciption. But basically, if you die while the demonomicon is equipped, you become a bossfight for everyone in the vicinity. (I havent fully fleshed it out but im working towards it)
Just dont think gloves fit for this in my opinion. I say u can make it look like a book by using this mod as a example to equip it in ur shield slot or u can make it a trinket slot item putting it in the musical slot making it look like a book like this mod, but like where this mod is goin, good mod and i hope this helps
Seconding those motions... fwiw, for my use, gibi's equippable books are too big & wonky to wield (imo... ymmv) (so, if going the book route, need smaller model/visuals?)
Or, maybe a manaflare type effect (a glowing VFX ball of the weave/mana that can be equipped in either melee weapon slot)?
Using the _Shields/Off-hand Melee slot has the benefit of making the equipped item visible... fawerts' Gondian Motivator being my fav example. 'Trinkets' typically don't have visuals (tho Instruments, which use the same slot, do).
Another alternative might be a cloak-slot type piece of gear with an attached spellbook that hangs from the hip (see, e.g., kharneth's Academy Robes and/or Rogue gear sets for examples)
Another option is to make JWL trinkets a dependency, and set the item to use the generic trinket as a base. Ajax's Degreaser does this for Rolan's Stolen Spell Book (feel free to unpack and take anything you want/need from my mods).
Specifically the entry for Rolan's book looks like this
new entry "DeGreaser_Rolans_Stolen_Spellbook" type "Item" using "JWL_DiscordantInstruments_Base_VR" data "RootTemplate" "6bc82164-8cd8-4fc4-8077-8b4c02bac113" data "Rarity" "VeryRare" data "Boosts" "UnlockSpell(Stolen_RolanMagicMissile);UnlockSpell(Stolen_RolanMageArmor);UnlockSpell(Stolen_RolanThunderwave);UnlockSpell(Stolen_RolanColorSpray)" data "Weight" "10" data "ValueUUID" "9b6a4ab2-323b-4030-89ab-030252bb6214" data "Unique" "1" The third line using "JWL_DiscordantInstruments_Base_VR" does make JWL trinkets a dependency, but it lets the book slot neatly into your instrument/"trinket" slot.
However there are practical balancing reasons to make it a glove slot item, or a shield slot item, or even a weapon slot item, if you want a powerful Act 2 artifact to be something that players have to make sacrifices in their loadout to benefit from. But for Listonomicon's purposes, I plan to give it an attunement requirement and make it a trinket slot item :)
I'll look into it. I also agree with you but I dont know how to implement it as such. I'll need some time to figure out how its done. But I just looked at JWL Discordant instruments and I'm eager to pull it off.
Sure. You could join the Listonomicon discord (https://discord.gg/b4swEaua5N) where a couple of modders smarter than me hang out (Lumaterian, Sumradragonoth, ChizFreak, Baldursgoonsack, Cahoot, etc) and would probably be better at answering at any specific technical questions, or DM me directly at _.ajax#0000
The only image available on the mod page is the image of the actual book itself. There isn't an item description (I checked both the description tab and the images tab)
There's a mod that does just that! JWL Discordant Instruments - New Equipment Slot adds like over 100 items or something for that slot and its literally so cool
