Siggi's Alternate Slayer Transformation Animation
This is a simple mod I created for myself that changes the Slayer Form transformation's animation. Although the animation already looks great, for some reason, I always found that it looked a bit off, like the Dark Urge is 'losing control' or something along those lines. However, by altering the animation, the transformation looks deliberate, impressive, and imposing.

After a couple people saw it, they said I should share it here. So, if you like it, feel free to throw it into your playthrough!

HOW DOES THE MOD WORK?

All it does is make a small edit to the "Shout_DarkUrge_Slayer" entry in the game's spell data, altering the PrepSound, CastSound, prepatory animation, and casting animation to match that of Wild Shape (Bear Variant). The rest of the data entry is unchanged. That being said, all the changes should be purely visual and auditory - it has no impact on mechanics, balance, or anything else. 



INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

This can be installed like most other .pak mods using BG3MM by LaughingLeader (if you don't have it, you can download it from GitHub here! - While you can install this mod using Vortex, I strongly advise against it. This has nothing to do with the mod itself or how it interacts with Vortex, it has more to do with how Vortex interacts with BG3. It places mod files in strange places in your game folder and in your AppData, handles mods and load orders very messily, and has personally caused me a lot of headache. If you prefer it, go ahead - but again, I recommend BG3MM instead for a much simpler and more seamless modding experience.

  • Manually download the .zip
  • Unzip the file
  • Take the .pak folder inside and drag and drop it into your inactive mods in BG3MM.
  • Slide it over to active mods along with other expanded content in your load order as recommended in this load order guide.



FILE/MOD INCOMPATIBILITIES

This mod should be compatible with all other mods except for those which modify the PrepSound, CastSound, and animation for the Slayer Form spell. If you don't know what this means, you're good and don't need to worry about it. However, if you do know what this means and know that this will conflict, load this after any mods that modify the Slayer Form spell.


KNOWN ISSUES

1. For some reason, the PrepareEffect (the Bhaal Ritual Circle) that normally appears when you click the spell icon before you cast it doesn't appear with this active.
I'm not sure why, since I made no edits to that entry. I think something about the wildshape animation overwrites it? Not sure. If you figure out a fix, reach out and I'll correct it and credit you!

2. There's an odd delay for the CastEffect and the actual polymorphing, resulting in a huge blood explosion playing just a moment before your durge actually
transforms. It's a small hiccup that may bother some, I guess. If I figure out how to fix it, I'll update it.
