This is a handcrafted variant that mimics this Spell but with a couple of changes: It only consumes 1 Action Point + 1 Bonus Action (does not consume a lv.3 Spell Slot) It can only be used once per Long Rest (not once per each lv.3 Spell Slot)
Love this mod. It's my go to on my Lathanderian cleric runs. One question: I'm just wading into modding and I'm trying to figure out how to turn off the radiant flame vfx on the weapon (in general...I like the weapon but hate the fact that I walk around with a flaming morningstar on my back). Any suggestions on where/how to do that? I've begged a few modders to make that fix but to no avail, so I'm hoping to try myself. I can't figure out where that effect is in the files. Thought I'd ask in case you don't mind pointing me in the direction.
Finally tried this on my last run, and it is the best B0L mod I've found so far. Given the lore that this weapon incorporates the actual blood of a god, one would expect it to be one of the most powerful weapons in the game, but in vanilla it's kind of mid, to be honest. This makes it viable as an end-game weapon without pushing it to the level of "I push the 'win' button."
Kudos. Well done.
The ONLY thing I might change would be to make it also function as a moon lantern, but I can make your version so that by combining it with Lathander's Night Light, so that's a minor point.
Wonderful mod. Makes BOL FEEL legendary, without making it completely OP by making Sunbeam basically infinite. This combined with Lathander's Night Light make the weapon perfect IMO. Cheers!
I love this! Would it be possible to have a version that also acts as a moonlantern? That would make sense to me that this weapon could do that. Even if you don't thank you for this mod! It actually makes this weapon worth it!
I was considering doing a version that did that myself but I didn't want to make parts of the story unnecessary. It makes so much sense though and the timing of when you get it is spot on. Maybe if it had too small an area for the whole party, but just protected the weilder.
Excellent mod that does BoL justice. For something that contains a drop of an actual god's blood, and warranted building an entire monastery around it, this weapon is decidedly mid.
Thing is, BoL suffers from the "awesome weapon at low level" syndrome in BG3.
The way it's described, it should in fact be something similar to what the mod offers. However, it is accessible in Act 1 to a group of level 5(ish) schmucks, and making it best-in-slot devalues weapons that appear at higher levels. So, poor design choice on the part of the devs here. They should've made it an upgradeable weapon somehow (i.e. it gains more power if you cleanse the Shadow Curse perhaps, Lathander is one of the direct opponents of Shar), or made it something other than a weapon.
The simplest implementation of something like that could be to create a crafting item, where the player is given an item upon releasing the Nightsong that upgrades the BoL from it's base into this version.
Finally! A mod that makes one of my favourite weapons actually worth it to keep using to the endgame. It was always way too underpowered for being a supposed legendary weapon infused with the actual blood of a God. Thank you for this mod!
I never use Blood of Lathander in my runs because it is such a mediocre weapon, without flavour. I also don't use the mods because they add so much to it.
This mod is on the right track, but I wonder if you could make a simple option that focuses strictly on the light and holy nature of the weapon?
I.e. remove tenacity and heart stopper, and leave the weapon at plus 3.
