If you don't want to scum your difficulty .. just don't do it. There. No need of the mod.
Sort of the same stance I have with those that bemoan about the cheaty mods. I don't disagree that some may take it a bit too far for my liking. There's a good chance that most of them ruin any sense of progression and accomplishment in the game. However, there's a simple solution if you don't like what those mods do ... DON'T USE THEM. See how incredibly easy that is? Nobody is forcing anyone to use a cheat mod, and nobody is forcing you to scum the difficulty settings.
You owe an apology to Nexus for wasting space on their server for this.
I've been modding for many years but you are the most stupid person i've ever seen. You are worried about this mod taking space? This is a mod for people that want this, you can just ignore it yet you felt the need to comment and said that i need to apologize to Nexus. I think you need a rating sytem so that people can know how stupid you are when they meet you or cars would slow down when you are crossing the street because i'm pretty sure you would get hit...
Hating a mod that does you no harm and benefits certain people is beyond my comprehension, you need help.
I rate “inn0centbystand3r“ 1/10. I hope Nexus blocks you from commenting so your comments don’t waste space in their servers. I think you should apologize to Nexus and to everyone who read your post for wasting their time.
It's hilarious how you make the argument against your own point when you say "if you don't like what those mods do ... DON'T USE THEM". That has to be intentional. Please tell me it's intentional!
I agree with Khione95's post above, this is probably the dumbest take I have seen for a long while. This argument could be made for any feature of a games design. Why bother including a death mechanic at all when you can simply imagine that your party is dead? Why balance your game in any way, since the player can simply choose to ignore helpful items or turn on god mode if they want to? No. Game designers know that the removal of certain features improves the experience and the number of helpful options varies based on the intended difficulty. If the player simply has the knowledge that the option of making the game easier is available to them then the fun of any difficult situation is removed because any obstacle is not really a real obstacle, it is a temporary inconvenience that they could have full control over if they selected the right menu item. Having limited options = fun.
Ive seen comments like that on every hardcore mod . Some of you really dont understand how human brain works , and that restricting yourself or others is sometimes the best way to experience something. Yes game developers make mistakes , its unavoidable. And it doesnt mean that community shouldnt fix a simple human error.
Thank you so much for this, unable to enjoy the game without it. Only usually play online set difficulty games like dark souls or destiny for this reason. Really appreciate it.
Now all we need is a mod that prevents save scumming. Or at least makes it harder. Some games do that by letting the RNG happen before the player knows it happens. In this case, that would be some time before the actual dice roll appears to the player. If you then reload a save from just before, you just get the same roll. But I doubt this is doable with mods.
And I'm here sad and pissed that I didn't start the game on tactician. Act 1 I missed so much. I thought the middle one would give enough challenge while allowing to have some fun without getting mad at the game. Boy was I wrong. If you are experienced with this type of game, middle difficulty in BG3 is pretty easy. Only very few battles actually pose a challenge, and mostly if you're caught unaware. I took down 99% of goblin village with just Astarion hiding, one-shot sniping, running back. Repeat.
And damnit, now I've got Steel Watchers greatsword on my pal/lock and Karlach as fighter, so even tactician doesn't pose a challenge at this later stage. You can pretty much win any battle just haste/speed them and whack everything.
Any chance you could make an ironman mode? That's much more of an issue for me than changing difficulty as Tactician itself is already too easy when played vanilla.

Nvm, I saw that somebody else posted something like this below :P
I'm convinced that, especially with the topic being viral right now, a mod to disable save scumming would also go pretty viral! Any chance it's possible, without the offical modding tools? :D
Aha, actually there's a simplier/easier way. . . just disable manual saving! xD Essentially forcing people to rely on autosaves only. I'm not sure if 'save on quit' is possible, but one modder I talked with said the above^ is possible but will take alot of his time, 'a few hours'. I'll ask him to elaborate if you want :D
Well, as I said, that modder I linked has an Iron Man mod, under his optionals. Depends how hardcore you are, but it's the closest thing we have to disable save scum! FYI: He mentions that he hasnt tested the mod yet, and doesnt know exactly what is changed
I enabled ironman mode from the files and tested it already. It only makes you load the main save with f8. You can still quciksave and manually load the game.
Ohhh. . . that's weird! Wtf is the point of that mode then lol Maybe that's why it's a hidden file, 'cus even the devs couldn't make it work? Either way, cheers for letting me know how you got on with it! Hopefully, with the official modding tools, we can make the idea happen-
Edit: Aha, the other modder got back to me, said this: "So, unpack game.pak with this tool and look for files named "SaveGame" and similar. Then, try to edit it and test results." I'll try it at some point too, but thought you'd be interested!
I'm not gonna use this mod because I don't play on tactician difficulty (at least yet), but I want to express my empathy and sympathy for people who do want to use it, and thank you on behalf of such people (possibly including future me) for making it.
just a quick question. does this work with stronger bosses + tactician plus? so do the changes from those mods also gets transfered by your mod onto the 2 other difficulties in the game, or not? also you need to be able to switch difficulty to reapply stronger bosses or tactician plus in case something doesnt get loaded. does this still work with your mod?
if yes: my mod order is - stronger bosses -> tactician plus health -> tactician plus stats
would your mod just go below it?
thanks for help and insight if you can give me any : )

Just don't change the difficulty if you don't want to. It's not hard to make that choice.
