Maybe. I know the short range can be a little fiddly, but I'm a little hesitant to boost things further. The subclass's identity is all about grouping up and getting close, but if it did get any bigger, it'd have a larger range than a Paladin's aura.
A tad frustratingly, inside the game's code auras only let you use whole numbers. That is, they can't have a range of 4.5m: it's gotta be 4 or 5. It's not something that would normally really matter, but when you're making a close-range class, suddenly finding that sweet spot can get trickier.
It's just me adding a quick subclass icon to the class:
Otherwise, should be mechanically the same. When Patch 8 comes around, I'll have a look at how Larian implement Oath of the Crown's Divine Allegiance, to see if the take-damage function can be pulled off in a cleaner way.
As currently implemented, both characters should visibly take damage -- but your ally should then immediately recover the health lost, as the damage is "transferred" from them. Is that happening, or does the damage just stay on both characters?
I don't think it's the cleanest implementation, so I'll think what I can do. If it's not working at all, I'll try to figure out what's breaking it.
seeing as you like laserllama stuff like me, I wouldn't mind a full take from you on his full class reworks, like alternate fighter, alternate monk, alternate warlock, etc. would be awesome. And as replacers of the actual in game classes
yeah, i know, there are a couple of mods already, but they are abandoned, buggy and quite incomplete.

The Flaming Sphere Flame Aura has a distance of 1.5, not sure if this can help.

Your mod would fit in very well.
