Implementation mainly. That mod has to overwrite some vanilla story scripts which just inherently has the potential to cause more issues when combined with other mods/game updates. While my implementation uses SE and does not overwrite any vanilla files. Both are good, and I recommend the other mod for those on Mac or that cannot use SE for whatever reason. I made this mod specifically for the DIQ collection as they were having issues with the other mod and this way of doing things is much less prone to issues.
The mod works as advertised as far as Quil showing up, but the next day, my companions don't even question me, even though I didn't hide the body. Is there some kind of conflict happening?
hi! just to make sure, theoretically, is this safe to put in the middle of a playthrough and take out during a playthrough as well? I have a resist durge playthrough that I would like to save alfira on, but.... my embrace durge would def kill sweet lil alfie 100% lol. Just want to make sure it'd be safe to remove this mid-playthrough!
Curious, so wondering: - Besides using SE, how does this differ functionally from TLG53787's Save Alfira mod? Wondering what "cleaner" means...??? - Will they clash? (Already have TLG53787's mod in the load order for an existing playthru... would it hurt anything -- hoping not, since it's SE -- to just add yours to my current savegame -or- should I just wait for my next bout of restart-itis?
Basically their version requires them to include some vanilla overwrites, so anything else that touches those scripts are incompatible, and if they are updated in a new patch they need to update their mod. Mine doesn't overwrite anything and should always work regardless of game updates. And they should be perfectly compatible if redundant.
Which makes me wonder some more: If you can do it cleaner (inheritance?) using SE... is it feasible to do it in native Osiris (e.g., using the TK)?
Not asking you to do another version, just wondering... it's been a looong time since I dabbled in lua scripting (NWN/NWscript) and I haven't peeked (yet) to see if I can figger out feasibility on my own... was thinking it might make a good pers use project to start learning the TK and/or re-acquaint w/ lua
Could potentially do this in Osiris I would imagine, although, I myself haven't really dabbled too much in it as lua via SE basically has all its functionality and more so I've stuck to that. For this mod in particular, in the base game's Osiris code it makes various checks before inserting a character (Either Alfira or the backup) into a database that dictates who shows up for the scene. This mod just listens for changes to that data base and if alfira is inserted, it swaps her out with the backup's character reference. So nothing is being inherited and the base game scripts are not being touched.
the game continues on just like every non-Durge run. She gives the same quest, same conversations at Last Light Inn and later on at Elfsong as well.
To acknowledge you saving her (added after players found out you can save her by knocking her out before the cutscene triggers), Larian also added a note she sends you in the epilogue thanking you for sparing her

Does this still works on patch 8?
Thank you !

Still a great mod, but sometimes knocking out Alfira is just what the plague doctor ordered (satisfying, too!).
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Insight appreciated.
