Thanks for sharing this. It's great to have a mod that changes just one thing rather than a larger overhaul.
Personally, I would like all longbows to use a strength modifier addition to damage (since they do less damage than cross bows), as this also makes sense. Would be great to have range and damage scale with strength, since that's what's needed. I've actually shot a longbow too :)
Yeah, maybe. But I have found several interesting longbows and only +1 heavy crossbows. I have only played up to (what I think is) the end of act 1, though. My longbow deals way more damage than a +1 heavy crossbow, and I was previously using one that inflicts frightened. So, in my opinion, the balance of longbow vs heavy crossbow is fine. Also, having a bit more range is arguably enough of a compensation for 2 less base max damage. I think adding STR to longbow damage flips the (un)balance and makes a heavy crossbow never preferred, don't you?
Possibly it does. It depends on your character. If crossbows do 2 more damage, and you have a character with 14 strength, then it's a wash. There is already one bow that does this, and I seldom use it because, as you note, there are more interesting bows out there.
For me, range would be the most obvious thing to have strength effect, but it may not be moddable?
