A Linux version of the fix has now been made available. Have only been able to test it in Ubuntu, but should work for SteamDeck too. See the included readme.md for instructions.
I am looking into making a similar program for the GOG version too, but would need the hashes of the unchanged binaries there, for that to be possible.
Hello, There's what I got: For Bg3.exe : 47FD2193B282827360F146BD5F309C53845A925FB725DCD7B0EE870829BB238C For Bg3_dx11.exe : 26CBFD0EE65C922E615315DE6DBB876BEEAC682F12161F65157BFD920679D779
well I can't really try it myself without access to that version of the game. However GOG users can easily downgrade to hotfix 26, so not much of a loss.
Ok I actually timed both edited and unedited versions for my game (with mods): avg unedited time from launch to menu: 1:21 avg unedited time from launch to in save: 1:54 avg edited time from launch to menu: 0:41avg edited time from launch to in save: 0:54
My estimate were wrong from my previous comment but I still feel it's a noticeable improvement, especially when re-launching the game multiple times to test mods it adds up.
what i did after my game updated is that i went where the file should go (steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\bin) and just deleted everything that came with this mod (reyqune_hex_editor.py inside the source folder and the reyqune_hex_editor.exe). I also deleted the BG3.exe.bak && BG3_DX11.exe.bak. that should do it. If you want to be more thorough go ahead and verify the integrity of the game files though steam in case you deleted something you shouldn't have.
I just wanted to say that this mod helped a lot and despite it being patched rather quickly we as a community appreciate you making this and sharing it.
I run the game through steam on linux with proton. However, I have an old slower system with windows that I have the game installed for setting mod load orders and such with bg3mm (never actually run the game on that system other than getting into the game once so that folders are created). I setup this mod on the windows system as described in description then ran it. Copied then pasted the udpated .exe and bak files from the windows version of the game to the linux system version of the game. Works like a charm. lowered my load times from 7 minutes to 30 seconds. Both on first load from startup and subsequent loads once the game is running. Very nice. Thank you for this. Thought others using linux might find this useful. Would probably work for steam deck as well; though, I don't have a steam deck to test it. Just need the updated exe (to replace existing .exe) and bak files placed in proper place. Thanks again. Very cool.
Hello! I found that it is much easier than that, and doable on the SteamDeck.
If you grab "ProtonTricks" from your repository of choice (on Deck it's in the Flatpak Store "Discover") and run the .exe with the same prefix as Baldur's Gate 3, it should work with no issues.
Of course, Linux can be fickle, but it worked this way for me.

If you own the GOG version, and would be willing to help with this, use this to get the file hashes and reply to this comment with them.

Need them for both
bg3.exe
andbg3_dx11.exe

Thanks for your help!
Thanks for the try though

Can confirm, editing that segment in HxD seems to work and reduced the load time for me (I just tried with Bg3_dx11.exe)
Probably better to downgrade to hotfix 26 instead.

but yes, the update fixes the issue, the mod is no longer needed with hotfix 28

Thanks again. Very cool.
Edit : Seems to be working!

after running the exe, does it stop with an error if there was one? Because it just opens and i see a 3 lines and it closes does that mean it worked?
