Hey, could you add a level 14 feature? im going on a second playtrough with the unlock level 13-20 mod on, and it would be awesome to use this subclass(great work btw).
Hey! Huge fan of this work!!! I have tried it in a couple of Honour playthroughs already playing unarmed, and I have a suggestion. Hammer Charge is pretty OP in the early game, mainly because of disarm (STR save is not the best save among enemies). On the other hand Retaliation is insanely fun and just feels good. So could you make a version with these abilities switched? ( Retaliation on level 3 and Hammer Charge on level 6). I think it would make early game more chalenging and fun when kicking goblin faces. and empower the build in act 2, when the game becomes actually hard Great work regardless!
Hi, I've actually quit modding but that was a really nice comment and it's not too much work! I've added an optional file called "Savage - Barbarian Subclass (Progression Adjusted)" that has the change you requested - let me know if there's any issues.
Aww.. Sorry to hear that, man. Your mods are pretty cool looking.
Any chance you would update this one again if Patch 8 breaks it? Kind of worried about trying it with a new patch around the corner. Assuming its not too much work, mind. I respect you not doing the modding thing anymore if you don't feel like it.
Unlikely to make any further changes, I would just assume the current state of my mods are the final versions. Fingers crossed there's no issues with the new patch!
I’m not able to use the unarmed bonus attack. When ever I use my first attack that uses my action it will give me the buff but won’t give me the bonus attack.
The latest update was a compatibility patch being added so it can work alongside other subclass mods using the Compatibility Framework. Thanks for liking the mod!
Hi if you're using other Barbarian mods, it's because a lot of my older mods don't have compatibility patches yet. I'll be updating them all soon since I know how to now.
Another great mod, I'm a downer for any class that is punch and brute force related. Is there a way you can add Vicious Throw along side withImprovised Weapon attack? For a bit of range if nothing more. Also could Retaliation or Payback works as a counter like Riptose?
Thanks for the kind words. Both the things you mentioned were thoughts I had so I'll give a proper explanation for my thinking:
BA Improvised Weapon makes sense for a unarmed Brawler so it was a must-include. The problem with adding Vicious Throw (or Frenzied Throw from Berserker) is that the subclass then makes Berserker redundant since there would functionally be no difference between a thrower using this Subclass, this one would just have more features. I took it out to encourage a more "in your face" style of play instead of being able to rely on a throwing build (which I think Berserker should be able to keep as its identity). In my mind, Berserker is ranged, Wildheart is melee, and Savage is mobility (Wild Magic is the casino)
Retaliation originally was on miss like Riposte but then I considered a Barbarian's whlole theme of taking damage and thought it'd be more flavourful to take a hit and strike back in Rage
If I haven't convinced you yet then let me know and I'll see about making another file with the changes you asked for.
Fair point. On my second opinion, I just think that it's gonna be something that make you has more chance to survive more than just taking hit in the face. Pretty much most of harder difficulty enemies tend to shoot at you with magics, arrows and projectiles. So having a bit decent AC to survive those would increase chance to survive at higher difficult. So I'm thinking of a counter on miss, less damage, no prone, no push back. And with an on hit will be Retaliation or Payback. You can add this to Brawler to make them more tacticle since they're in fighter line. Just sharing my thought on this, cuz I've been searching for these type of class that involved punching and not monk.
Some balancing/level adjustments from the original file:
Hammer Charge now available at Level 3 instead of 6, now does 1d8 + StrengthModifier instead of Unarmed Damage/2
New ability called Retaliation at Level 6 that lets you counter attack an enemy that hits you in melee range whie Raging (uses Reaction)
I'm just adding another update now but it's just to fix some lines of code, Retaliation was showing as a "DC:0" Strength Check, will now be a regular unarmed Attack roll.
