It seems that this conflicts with Backgrounds Unlocked no matter where it is in the load order, possibly other mods that add new backgrounds. It's not showing up where it was before.
I've not tested this on an actual Tav (EDIT: confirmed the same), just a custom companion via this mod, but on a previous playthrough doing that worked just fine. Normally I wouldn't be overly fussed about this, but the Haunted One background is the crux of one of my favorite modded character builds using Dark Urge Has Urges, which seems to rely on the background rather than an actual Dark Urge character (as tested on my last run).
I know mod conflicts are the bread and butter of any game and it's not on anyone specific to patch it out, but I'm wondering if you could take a look? Thanks!
Haven't found anything related to the Haunted One background uuid (20d865ea-03bd-47bf-97d3-777e1b36b073) in your other mods so I don't know (except goals but it's not related).
I could make an optional file for each Origin character to put them as Haunted One, it's not complicated to do but it's mostly time-consuming. If someone commission me to make it I do it as top priority.
I don't personally remember any "haunted one" dialogue options, usually its just italicized text with no special option but those are the durge action options "kill squirrel, tiefling kid etc", and ive played durge religiously for 10 runs now, im not saying they don't exist, im just saying i haven't seen them/remember them and its the only character ive played as since my first run, and ive done everything i possibly can in some runs because i cheated.
Would this conflict with, e.g., the Haunted One backgrounds that Mharius created (a lil more than a year ago) here: https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/534?tab=files&file_id=69962
... or they additive/complementary (depending on l/o)?
Took a quick peek at it in Multi-Tool, and it looks to me like it's just adding an entry to the passives table... The entire mod consists of two files: - a Haunted.txt file located @ \Public\Backgrounds Enhanced Haunted\Stats\Generated\Data, and; - a meta.lsx file in the usual location.
The .txt file scripts the edits to the Haunted One background...
Spoiler:
Show
new entry "Background_HauntedOne" type "PassiveData" data "DisplayName" "h18484316gdd73g4d78g9454gd3f8a456cf22;1" data "Description" "hc84e6746g2ecfg40cbg8eaagfb4784d240c1;1" data "Boosts" "ProficiencyBonus(Skill,Medicine);ProficiencyBonus(Skill,Intimidation);ProficiencyBonus(Skill,SleightOfHand);ProficiencyBonus(Skill,Stealth)"
So, I'm guessing it may actually be compatible? OTOH, I am an idiot (mea culpa!) and don't really know what I'm looking at, so there's that...
Edit: So, I'll test with yours loaded after Mharius' mod & see what happens...
Hi, I'm not sure I understood, can you please clarify, does this mod just add the dialog options that DU has without including forced cutscenes and etc.? I want to play like regular Tav but just have more dialogue options. Thanks in advance.
Logically, you will have access to dialogues linked to your background but not to the dialogues and iconic moments of Dark Urge. For example, it's like when you have specific [Outlander] or [Soldier] dialogue, but I don't remember if there were specific [Haunted One] dialogues when we were playing Dark Urge, I mostly remember that there was.
Technically in the game files, features of Dark Urge and Haunted One are separate (with a few exceptions like some goals/inspirations).
Thanks for the explanation and quick response. Do you by any chance know how much this dialogue tag is presented in the game, that is, how many options with this background will I get throughout the game? The idea is to enhance my game with this and get some options that I didn't have before
So I tried searching in the game files but I didn't find anything very interesting, so honestly I don't know. Honestly, I don't know if at the moment there are mods that add a lot of new dialogue for the player, but that interests me too.
Aw, that's so sweet that you did it so your wife could play her character
Edit: Apparently there ARE dialogues like one would find in other backgrounds, but there's a bug that this mod claims to fix https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/12683
Yeah the "Order of the Mutant" mod and this "Haunted One Tav" mod is mainly for her (because otherwise I wouldn't have done them, they're not features I'm initially interested in lol).
For your 2nd point (the Dark Urge banter), I don't think it will apply in the case of this mod because the barks and small dialogues that will be used in my mod will be those of Tav, not those specific to Dark Urge. Technically, this mod just unlocks the background for Tav.
On the other hand, I suppose that if you add a mod (in your mod list, in addition to my mod) which allows you to choose a custom background for an Origin character other than Tav, Origin characters will also be able to have access to Haunted One.

Because read the description.
But I'm interested too in a cheating way to do it, just to know.
So it seems like this mod is more for cosmetic or role-playing purposes.

EDIT: If "Backgrounds Enhanced" by Mharius only modify the passives table from the backgrounds (not the background table itself) it will work together
