PATCH 8 changed nothing in the corresponding files, and the missing Durge lines were not fixed in the core game. After checking all the code and doing some in-game testing -- it all works the same as in Patch 7. This mod doesn't need an update.
Keep in mind, every new patch was always breaking something in world banter. It's a tricky part of dialogue, with each little node running in its own separate file, and connections/triggers might be blown up unintentionally all over the place.
Now that the final Patch 8 is out, we can start big fixing projects, without waiting for the next updates. So if you see consistent errors or smth not there, while you know for a fact that it should -- feel free to drop in the comments or DMs.
There's an inspiration for Gale/Sage underneath the broken bridge to the north of the blighted village where Tav recognized the druid and Harper armor. It's working with regular Tav but not Durge.
I don't know if my problem has anything to do with this mod, but I don't know where else to look. Shadowheart repeats her dialogues with Scratch in one go. She just doesn't stop until I take her to another location in the camp. And in many conversations, whether with Withers or companions, the sound disappears in the middle of the conversation and doesn't come back. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this and what I can do about it?
Hello. I, in fact, have the same bug. I know that my 3 published mods don't affect it, I tested with and without them - removing this mod midgame won't break your save, you can check yourself.
I also tested without my "override" mods, like voice, text, vfx etc, those didn't change anything as well. I strongly suspect it's some rare vanilla bug, but I didn't test in vanilla. I'll probably get to checking and fixing it when I start playing again, it was wildly annoying indeed.
I just tested this mod via BG3MM with my fresh Patch 8 playthrough and I've got mixed results. I am not able to trigger the Dark Urge banter/comment after the goblin ambush fight (as shown in the video tab in the YT video showcasing this mod), but I am able to get the Dark Urge comment when picking up the Soros Glaive (as also shown in the same video). I think Durge is usually silent when picking up the glaive without this mod installed, correct?
The mod author also mentions that Dark Urge banter is meant to fire off after 'Nettie's comments'. Which comments, specifically? Nettie's initial talk with Durge? I personally get nothing but the regular Tav voice banter with Shadowheart and about the vial. When alone, no comments. Is the Dark Urge specific banter meant to trigger later with Nettie?
I also looked in the PAK file for this mod and saw there's meant to be a trigger after Arabella's initial scene. Didn't hear anything from my Durge.
I chose Dark Urge Voice 7 (Male), which is normally Male Voice 3 when playing as Tav. Does that affect available banters (as in, do only certain Dark Urge voices fire off the banter added back by this mod)?
How confusing. I don't recall any Nettie stuff. Mostly I just hear them more when I point and click. For instance, there are many lines of dialogue used while sneaking or in combat that I've never heard without this mod. (Ex. "Time for bitter business the light would fear to shine on" while sneaking/"Into the bloody fray!" in combat.)
I don't even get the combat lines for Durge, though he seems to be reacting when using point-and-click on him. Did you get any banter triggering after speaking to Zevlor and Aradin, or after Arabella's first scene?
I found this mod because I'm pretty sure a lot of my Durge reactions/dialogue options are lost in patch 8 and wanted to find a mod to fix it. Since I don't have this mod, I'm pretty sure it's not this mod's issue. Something in patch 8 broke the reactions/dialogue options
Every new BG3 patch ALWAYS partially breaks and partially re-restores reactions and banters. They are magical this way. This mod DOES NOT TOUCH core, event based banter triggers — if say your Tav stopped reacting to some world event, it is not this mod. If both Tav and Durge do not react, it is not this mod. If Tav reacts and Durge doesn’t, it MIGHT be this mod, and this is what I am checking first.
The Goblin fight has no banter line trigger afterward except for a Tav line 'It's done'. Is that the intended banter line that is restored for Dark Urge with this mod? If so, it's different from the example shown in the video section.
Picking up the blueprint in the Blighted Village and reading Halsin's note doesn't trigger any banter at all for me.
Speaking to Nettie just produces Tav banter with Shadowheart. I assume that was missing for Durge, originally?
And Nettie questions - there are 6 or 7 possible resolutions to the entire encounter, with the sequence starting from birdy healing greeting, and ending with, well, final resolution. I managed to trigger 2 rare ones, for a test, those sequences work, but they were super unintuitive If you are like really set to dig in, you need a BG3 Dialogue reader -- you can parse with this tool https://github.com/angaityel/bg3-dialog-reader
I have the dialogue parser tool and used it earlier for troubleshooting this mod. Which dialogue files can I look at to see the two rare Nettie banters you are referring to?
And what about the Goblin attack aftermath banter? What is that meant to be? What's shown in the video, or the example I listed above, out of curiosity?
Vid was not it, it is what you said. "It's done" and companions give responses, every origin different, and to some lines avatar responds as well, not all, don't remember too well. It sometimes might not work if heroes are too far away from avatar
Hi everyone,I was wondering if anyone could share some specific moments in early Part 1 that trigger Dark Urge banter. I've been trying to capture them, but I'm unsure if I'm missing the cues or if it’s just my lack of familiarity with the timing. Exact moments to trigger would be very helpful. I’m working on a video showcasing this mod in action, and having these exact moments would be incredibly helpful. Thanks so much for your assistance!
After the first grove goblin fight, picking up the Sorrow glaive, after Nettie, blacksmith's plans on the village wall; one of my favorites is after the undead fight in Wither's chapel if you haven't pre-looted the skeletons/ or if you fleed from the battle.
I won't be making full release notes; the list is too long, and there are too many spoilers.
What are the voice lines after the undead fight in Withers' chapel that are specific to Dark Urge? I just did that fight as Durge without pre-looting the skeletons as you suggest, but the only line I got from my Durge was 'They didn't want to surrender their valuables, even after death.' Doesn't seem Durge specific to me. If there is a unique Durge line here activated by this mod, then it's not working for me on Patch 8.
Due to my ongoing issues trying to confirm if this mod is working with Patch 8, I parsed the dialogue files of BG3 using the Dialogue Reader tool out of curiosity and in 'Dialogs/Act1/DEN/DEN_DruidLair_VB_ObtainedReward.html' which governs the Origins ('REALLY_ORIGINANAMEHERE') and Tav ('REALLY_GENERIC') responses to picking up the Soros glaive, Tav has the 'A beautiful glaive. So why does touching it give me a knot in my stomach?' line attributed to them, as shown in the video in the 'Video' tab for this mod page. I thought because it's a Tav specific line that it is not an example of a Dark Urge specific restored banter line, which meant this mod was not working with Patch 8. Also in the same showcase video is a part where Dark Urge says a line after the Goblin attack. But that line is an overworld line said by Durge when clicking to move, not a specific scripted banter line that follows the attack.
I then tried deactivating the pak version of this mod, installed via BG3MM, and tried to install it as loose files in the 'Mods' sub-folder under the game's main 'Data' folder. I found upon loading up my save, however, that this deactivated the banter lines, such as the voiceline for picking up the Soros glaive, entirely. This meant that the Dark Urge Banter Dialogue Fixes mod is still working as intended for Patch 8 after all - at least, I think?
Because all this testing makes me wonder - is the restored banter for Durge essentially just shared lines with Tav that for whatever reason weren't implemented for Durge in earlier Patch versions? Or was there ever restored banter that was specific to the Dark Urge? I don't see any specific quotes of the restored banter in the existing comments, so I can't confirm that for myself right now, but I do see a list from the mod author about specific triggers for Durge banter - after the Goblin fight, after talking to Nettie, after the Withers crypt fight (without looting the skeletons first), and picking up the Soros glaive. My own testing here has been mixed; I had no line at all triggered after the Goblin fight or Nettie, but I did get lines for Withers' fight and the Soros glaive, both of which look to just be Tav lines restored for a previously silent Durge (as mentioned above).
Generic lines like spotting and disarming traps are also indeed shared with Tav but I confirmed they are restored with this mod (without it, Durge is silent when spotting/disarming traps).
If you're too busy, Dajolie, could you share what the restored lines were for Dark Urge, specifically the lines he's meant to say for early examples like the Goblin fight or picking up the Soros Glaive or talking to Nettie? I just want to understand if they were any different to regular Tav voice lines, or if there indeed were unique Durge specific banter lines restored by your mod that aren't triggering for Patch 8.
(I also have this audio mod Dialogue Voice Quality Restoration (DVQR) and idk if it's the reason why this mod works for me. I'm just assuming this cause they're both audio/dialogue mods.)
Just so you are aware Patch 8 sort of broke this mod. My Tav and others that speak is static and not coming through. Took this mod out and the audio is fine.
