Beta Changes and Features:
Astarion is a Vampire Spawn in this version with the limited powers Instead of your choice of Vampire or Vampire Dark Urge: You now have Vampire Spawn and Full Vampire
Full Vampire Origin
Has all the powers that the full vampire had before, including being able to make Vampire Spawns on bite Has additional powers to put out all lights (torches and candles) for at 32 meter radius Carry Capacity increased to 4x Movement increased by 6 Able to bestow Full Vampire Status on a Vampire Spawn but gets a penalty of -3 to Ability Checks, Saving Throws and Attack Rolls (Until Long Rest)
Vampire Spawn Origin
Vampire Spawn has the base powers of a vampire like normal but is not able to create spawns on a bite Only gains the following powers on level Level 2 - Mask of Many Faces Level 3 - Speak with the Dead Will not become mist on being downed Can't regen health when downed
Dark Urge Spell
Both Vampire Origins gain a spell to become the Dark Urge (Will vanish on level 1 gained) Note: Make sure to choose the background of Haunted, if you want to be the Dark Urge, as not having this makes the slayer not an option Warning on Dark Urge (Don't use this if someone in the party is already the Dark Urge. This can cause stability issues)
I'm using the normal Astarion version, works great! My friend wanted to be a full vampire, and the powers work fine: turning into a bat, turning into mist, slip into darkness advantages, and the vampire bite. Increased carrying capacity and movement work as well. We are only level 5 so haven't gotten to all powers yet. Found it pretty amusing that he bit someone in combat, then they IMMEDIATELY turned around and bit me lol. I did not bite anyone and I returned to normal after the next long rest (meaning I lost Bloodless and Vampire Bite), so works as intended. Thanks, my friend absolutely loves it and I am very thankful for the normal Astarion version!
Hey! Didn't want to report this as a bug, as it could just be me not doing the right thing. I have my Tav with the "Haunted one" selected. When the game starts in the nautiloid, I don't have any vampire-related abilities. Not any that I can see on your screenshots. What am I doing wrong? Am I missing something? Do you need another mod to get this one working?

Lovely mod concept! I am eager to see more expansion of origins this way!
I would like to suggest something however. As we know, the dark urge is locked in choice to the Haunted One background. Some modders made unlockers for this by default. Could you consider chooseable backgrounds a thing for this vampire origin option? Currently they are stuck on the 'Haunted One' background because I assume this origin builts off of The Dark Urge.

Great mod! I did have one issue. During multi-player, only one person can be a vampire and one, a spawn. If im playing with three friends, creates problem. Is this intended? some way to fix this? the origin photo has a lock on it. Thanks.
Suggestion: add the undead fortitude effect for the vampire origin? This effect will protect the player once from lethal attacks, as long as it isn’t a critical attack or radiant damage.
edit: apologies, I came here from the console mod manager, at least until I get my computer back, and didn’t see that the mist form activation upon being downed might conflict with this
on another topic, I wanted to ask if there’s a version that has Astarion start off as a full vampire so the player has an option for astarion to infect them as a spawn mid playthrough as an alternative to selecting the origin? And then an ability to turn spawn into full vampires.
If you use the Dark Urge Astarion for Baldur's Gate 3 - mod.io with the mod, it will let Astarion start as a full vampire but will also make him the Dark Urge, in addtion to his normal storyline.
Okay, because I wanted to start off my origin as a normal custom tav, and then have Astarion bite my player to acquire the vampirism. So you recommend that mod if I want to go through the vampirism infection in-game for my player, rather than at the origin screen?
And just to clarify, I don’t need to select the dark urge astarion origin? I can just spawn in with my custom origin and the astarion I find at the nautiloid crash site is dark urge astarion, and he’s able to infect me with vampirism and acquire all the benefits your mod offers with the progression system?
You uploaded a new version of this mod to the BG3 mod site is it going to be ported to console to or was the old version that is on console updated with the features like *bestow full vampire status*?

any update to this comment? is there a way that there can be a version that makes Astarion's vampire passives like the mod's and then have the player start as a non vampire and then they can get bit and get the benefits from the mod? Similar to one of your previous mods that enhanced astarion's vampire and made it so astarion could bite people to turn them as well.
This version has some issues, like Extinguish Torches never working, but Vampire_Origin_New for Baldur's Gate 3 - mod.io works. But the *non-new* version was updated more recently. Kind of confusing. Can we get a defacto version to follow? Or maybe a better description to tell us why there are three different versions?
