Hi! I apologize if this is a silly question, as I don't have much experience with mods and have not edited the text file before. I have downloaded mods from nexus and installed them using the mod manager for mac, but haven't gone beyond that, so I wasn't sure what to do with this download. I am having an issue where, once I use the mac mod manager to add mods, the official mod manager constantly "forgets" anything I installed, forcing me to re-click install for each individual mod every time I load the game. I also can't figure out how to change the load order. Will this help?
After playing around with the mods the last few days, I would suggest doing these steps when installing (or reinstalling) mods (patch 7 only):
- If you haven't already, either clear or delete your modsettings.lsx file. This file can be found at /Users/yourusername/Documents/Larian Studios/Baldur's Gate 3/PlayerProfiles/Public (note: this is the file that I've shared here. Prior to Patch 7, you needed to edit this file in order to correctly install mods and set the mod order. This has now changed.) The file will be overwritten or a new one will be generated when you next open the game (so leave the file unlocked or the game can't overwrite it). - Download mod files manually (I don't use a mod manager except, now, the one in-game so can't help with mod manager install) - Extract the file(s) - Take the .pak file(s) and put it in your Mods folder - Open the game and navigate to the mod manager. Go to the 'installed' tab-- and here is the important part for mod order-- you need to click/enable the mods in the order that they need to be loaded. So for example, I need to make sure I always enable Better Loot first, because it doesn't work if placed elsewhere. (If you need help with where mods should be in load order, I'm happy to upload my most recent modsettings.lsx for some guidance. I won't have all the same mods you do, but you can at least get an idea. I can't promise it's perfect as I'm still experimenting with mods, but my game has had no issues.) - The load order you select in-game with be reflected in your modsettings.lsx file from before. If you need to change the load order, instead of having to go in-game and deselect then reselect everything, you can change the order by editing that file. From what I have seen, the changes will then be reflected in-game with no problem.
