I think for compatibility reasons with a bunch of other spell altering/reworking mods, this would be great. Because the main feature of this mod is the downcasting, and just getting that, without the compulsory rebalance, would be better. Very nice mod nevertheless.
Love the direction of this mod. I'm tempted to see how much work it would be to apply these types of changes to the direct damage spells for both Valkrana's Spellbook and Jolt mods.
If I feel like it. Maybe in the future. There is no upcasting that I can use for level 6 spells as a template to make lower level spells. i.e. I would essentially need to make them from scratch.
I'm getting a bug where Spirit Guardians don't work if cast at level 2 spell slot. They were fine for 1 and 3 (I haven't gotten far enough to try spell slots 4+) but when I cast them at level 2 they just don't do any damage or slow people.
I'm not sure why, but for me this mod has made the spells fireball, lightning bolt, and scorching ray not work. They say "Select Variant" when I click on the spell and there's just nothing to select. I got the scotching ray one to work by adding in the optional file that reverts it to standard progression but the others just don't even show their options when I click on the spell. Tried disabling the mod too, but the save won't load without it sadly. Wish I knew what was causing this. I'm assuming it has something to do with my load order and another mod, but it's hard to say what it could be.
I have the very same issue. Including not being able to remove the mod which crashes my save(s). Plus Not sure if it's supposed to do this but for the downcasting Spells I see 2 variants in the prepared spells menu. No matter which one I pick it fills up 2 spaces on the Prepared Spells. Does the same if I load order this mod first or last or middle of the order list.
Added note: Found a workaround to be able to use the original Spells for people with the same issue and can't remove the Mod because it crashes their save. Example: FireBall. On your skill bar (bottom) click on the Lvl 3 spell slots tab and you'll be able to cast Level 3 FireBall from there. Big problem I have is that I have 2 variants in the spell book and it fills up 2 Prepared Spell slots if I choose only one of them. it doesn't do this if I pick a spell that has 2 variants in the spell book last. Tried Version 1.1 and 1.2 of the mod.
*Fixed: For people with the issue above. Most likely you have this issue coming from a Mod list of a Collection. If you have done an update from the collection at one point it may have required you to redownload and install the Downcasting mod as it decided not to update normally. This makes the mod go first in the mod order list on Vortex. (it also has to be after 5eSpells). For example "The Epics of Tavs" Collection, the last mods in the Load Order should look like this:

In all seriousness, I might consider it. Though it will be quite a bit of work.
