New Update After receiving many bug reports for the recent update, I've decided to roll back the changes I made for teeth. Currently there are 2 versions available, one lightens the color of the scar to be ~50% of its normal intensity, then also changes your eyes back to normal. The second version fully removes all color from the scar, but it keeps the bumpy texture. This also ensures that teeth are clean for your half-illithid characters.
Sorry if I caused any crashes or bugs on your end, I'm truly sorry.
This mod isn't available on PS5 and XBOX Series yet. It has been uploaded but it hasn't been approved yet. That being said, if you use this mod and then continue your save on console, it will still work. The mod is purely visual and doesn't change any save data, you can remove it without damaging your save.
would you happen to know if this applies to dragonborn as well? unfortunately i'm not able to test it out, as my only run is currently in act 1 and it's honor mode (though i suppose i could cheat my way there on a new save...)
I haven't tested it but it should work with dragonborn, I didn't any textures, just changed some values that probably apply to both dragonborns and the other races.
There's basically no documentation on how the game handles the teeth, so I'm figuring everything out right now. If my current understanding is correct, the version of the mod I've uploaded now should decrease the yellowing of the teeth, but they're probably still broken? I just made some changes and I'll post here about the results of my tests!
Okay, when lightening the scar the teeth automatically get whitened, but not to the level it was before. However, the difference is pretty big? I made a comparison so you can take a look for yourself.
First: Unmodded Second: Lighter mod (50% less color) Third: No scar at all Screenshot:

I could change the texture, however then it would also change other teeth in the game. (Ketheric Thorm and Vlaakith) Another option is to make a version of the mod which removes all color, but keeps the bumpy scar.
Maybe I'll upload those as alternative versions with a disclaimer... For reference, this is what Karlach looks like with no color but with the scar.
Yeah that one completely removes everything. The bottom screenshot of the comparison was made using the mod!
Also I'm probably not gonna release the alternate version today, I spent like 7 hours modding yesterday lol, and now that NativeCameraTweaks is back I'm gonna continue my durge run. :P
I'VE FIGURED OUT HOW TO CHANGE TEETH TO BE GOOD AGAIN!!
I'll update in a minute, but for now, please admire the monstrosities I've created in the meantime. I have no idea how materials work, but I've somehow figured it out.
It was such a pain in the ass to just get the characters to have the illithid effect in the editor, but I figured it out‚
Then I tried to just hardcode the effects of Broken_Teeth and the Illithid color to be 0, but it just did some weird s#*!, so I had to completely reconfigure the material.
Luckily Patch 7 gave us access to the tools they used to make the game, so I had a somewhat functional GUI to make it soooo yay
Yeah, I think I messed up, I'm going to release an update reverting these changes and providing an alternative version that completely removes color (and tooth decay). I did something I didn't know much about and it went wrong, sorry. If you want a stable version, please revert to version 1.0.0.2
I'm fairly certain this mod causes crashes.. I was playing in my 250+ mod list and notice i was getting crashed to desktop pretty consistently when pressing TAB to see the party panel or sometimes when looting a container..
so i went and did the whole song and dance, disabling mods a few at a time launching the game see if i could replicate the crash.. and yeah i pretty much tracked it down to this one. i even went and started a brand new save with no other mods loaded and with just this one on the mods folder and enabled, and yup got crashed to desktop when pressing Tab (I pressed it as fast as i could to force a quicker crash)<< i did this too on my 250 mod list without this mod in it, and it wouldn't crash.
i did have script extender and native mod loader with the camera and WASD tweaks so this mod wasn't completely isolated to be 100% sure... and another weird thing i notice is that when i launched the game on dx11 as opposed to vulkan the the game did seem to not crashed as often if ever with this mod, but i didn't do much testing to know if there's correlation or whatever.. idk if am talking crazy or what but i already spent to much time on this so ill just uninstalled the mod for now.
Huh, that's really weird. I don't think it's my mod. I'm also suing Camera Tweaks and Script Extender installed, I'm using DX11 and pressing tab doesn't crash my game. It might be a bugged item?
I'm afraid my experience go in the sense of "Lighter half-illithid cause crashes". I had fairly regular crashes and found same crashing condition (vendor-level up-Inventory) on reddit and the only mod I had in common with OP was Script Extender and this mod. Someone on this reddit also told op that this mod caused crashes (here is the post : https://www.reddit.com/r/BG3mods/comments/1fmt8hp/game_randomly_closingcrashing/#lightbox)
I also have removed this mod and now playing without problem.
I admit this is strange, since this is the last mod I woud have suspected to be the cause of crashes and it did crash even when no one in my party was half ilithid....
You don't need to do anything about it for me, I just wanted to inform you of my findings.
I think this is just a quirk of some skin colors, I'm using a Tiefling with a purplish skin tone, and toning the color down only partly changes the scar. My current theory is that some skin colors just have a more intense scar color by default, then when you remove the Illithid color, the default color is still there.
You'll notice that the scar color my character had without the illithid scar is pretty much identical to the one she has with the scar, and all illithid color removed. (Note: currently the mod only removes 50% of color). For reference: this is what Karlach looks like with all color removed.
You could try changing your character's skin color to hopefully remove this issue. I personally just use my other mod, which completely removes all visual Half-Illithid effects.
I haven't been able to test it with Patch 6 yet, but this mod doesn't change that much, so I assumed it would be fine. Could you elaborate?
Edit: People using my other mods are reporting the same issue, I'll look into it. Edit 2: After talking to other mod authors, they told me there might be an issue if you use the Magic Mirror mod, but that otherwise there should be no issue using this mod on Patch 6.
You should completely delete the old unvisual mods (and just all mods where the checkboxes of the in-game manager doesn't work).
There's a mistake in their configuration which causes the in-game mod manager to freak out, I had this issue too, but after deleting the old broken mods completely, it worked again.

Also just to double check, your "Normal Half Illithid" version removes all the transformation effects, including the teeth change, right?

the Sunthe Cloweeeee! But seriously, kudos on figuring it out. Going by my own modding experiences, I bet it wasn't straightforward haha.

Is this for Patch 6 or 7?
