Oh man, I'm really late. But it's dice roll + modifiers, same as the TTRPG

    I prefer D8 better than D20

This mod, (using patch 6 "beta test" albeit), breaks mod load orders and the game doesn't recognise any mods installed with it when installed through bg3mm

It sounds odd that this would happen, and it sounds like you might have been experiencing some conflict, which can result in modsettings.lsx being wiped.
I can confirm that as of v4.1.1.5932596, this is not true, and while I did have a strange crash the first time I launched with the mod, it seems to have been a fluke, as the mod now plays nice with my other 48 mods with seemingly no issue.

And the mod seems to be working as intended; testing it on the first fight aboard the Nautiloid, my monk scored a 24 on Initiative, which would normally be impossible.

Thank you so much! This is a great balance adjustment for the Alerts +5 feats, making the feats selection more diverse

Thanks you! The "true initiative" mod was so outdated it was causing me huge problems with patch 7. You saved me!

I love this mod and i really like the rule as written. However - i am of course not sure - I think it causes fps drops? Have anyone encountered that?

I couldn't think of how changing literally one number in one line of code would do that. Maybe try True Initiative and check if the problem persists.

Yes, absolutely. Dex bonus and Alerts +5 still apply, they just aren't the gigantic gamechangers anymore that they were in the basegame. Alert's +5 almost guaranteed you were going first every time, now it's a good bonus, but far from a guarantee, freeing you up to take more interesting feats.
