Hmm. I seem to be unable to start a new game or load a save when adding this mod to my mod list. It's the only mod on my list that uses Osiris scripting according to BG3MM, so I think there's some issue there for me. Shame, this was my favorite mod when I first played BG3.
Quick question. I posted this question over at mod.io, but I get the sense some modders never read their forums over at mod.io. LOL. Anyway, I have a UI question. (Thought maybe other users could help with this also, dunno.)
I thought the Codex was going to be an actual book that appeared in your tutorial chest. You'd read the book and choose the spells you want to "learn" or acquire. Nope. After I installed the mod, everybody in my party now had a "Codex Gigas" icon on their hotbar, it was there from the get-go, and you clicked on the icon's "+" sign and then all the "Gigas" spells were there in a submenu. Well, installing it was easier than I thought, but ...
So, the way you normally activate the "Gigas" spells is you click on the Codex Gigas icon, and then the 60 or so sub-spells all appear as a "submenu" inside the icon. Now the only problem with this, and I guess it's minor, is of course it can take a while to find the spell (cantrip) you want to use. Is there a way to take some of the Gigas "spells" and move them to other places on the hotbar? Like - say - seems to me they could go on the "Custom" area ... or somewhere else.
So let's say you only really want to use 4 or 5 of them (like Summon Imoen!), could you take and move those to a place elsewhere on the hotbar where they could be more quickly clicked and used? Otherwise it's a constant process of "hunt and find" .... among a whole bunch of others I don't want to use.
You know who has a really good UI for this? Cheater's Scroll. When you open the little scroll menus inside Cheater's Scroll, each of the "cheat spell scrolls" can be moved elsewhere onto your hotbar.
You'll forgive me if I am having trouble parsing or understanding your response. To clarify,
Do you mean there is a version here at Nexus (as opposed to mod.io) (I assume you had to use Moon"Glasses" to make the mod.io version) that does this differently? Would that be the current version? I do see several earlier versions in the File Archive, but I'm not sure which "3" you are referring to.
Does the (current) Nexus version allow me to take the Gigas spells (cantrips/actions) out of the submenu under the icon and put them elsewhere on the hotbar? This is what I want to do.
It is not an issue of keyboard/mouse vs. controller. It's an issue of, I just want to take the 3 or 4 Gigas spells I like the most, ignore the others, and put the ones I like best somewhere else on the hotbar. Where I can use them without digging into the codex submenu.
To clarify there was this option before, to cycle between a container, a spellbook in inventory, and all spells in game's spellbook, that wasn't recreated. I might restore the one that puts the spells separately to your spellbook, but with mod.io there are custom variables now as any mod update resets to approval of mod on consoles, which as of now prolly takes forever.
The reason it wasn't recreated was a total shitload of scripting that would have to be approached differently on a new language and saving one spell slot as container space will a problem down the road.
I'm not "wed" to mod.io, although it was where I first saw your mod. I get mods from both places, there and here. Though I got your mod from mod.io, I saw you had forums over here at Nexus, and as usual - as compared to mod.io - the forums were both better organized and more active. I really don't want you to go through the PITA of doing it over in the Toolkit if you don't have to.
So I popped over here to ask you my question. So, now that I think I understand your point, I personally would appreciate if you re-upload, here at Nexus, the version that has other options for how the spells are organized. Being in your spell book would allow you to simply pick the ones you want to have on your hotbar, so that would work for me.
BTW, if restoring the old version is going to make it require script extender, I won't be able to use it, as I'm on a Mac.
If you can re-do it in Osiris ... I'm golden. Seriously, I don't want you to do this on my account if I can't use it, and whatever is the least amount of work for you. I always appreciate it if modders take requests, and I'm very pleased you're willing, so thanks in advance.
... I really like the Gigas spells, especially Summon Imoen, as well, who doesn't love Imoen (yes, I played the originals). It's just that some of them seem to fit certain characters or classes more than others, and those are the ones I want to have on their hotbar. Rather than going into the icon and having to select them out of a list of 60 every time.
OK, it did require me doing the steps you said (disable mod, save, re-enable mod, load save) but I got version 35 to work. Thanks.
When you activate the metamagic codex, it switches over to the Spellbook version, and boom all your cantrips/actions are in Common. It just takes a few minutes then to get the ones I'm not interested in using off the Hotbar and keep the ones I want. (That varies by character, of course. Some are more useful based on their class or who they are. For example, I think it's probably more appropriate for Jaheira and Minsc to be able to Summon Imoen, as they knew her. Etc.*) But of course what are most generally useful to everybody are like Summon Party, Warp, etc. Some I guess could be considered "OP" but as always - nobody's forcing anybody to use them. I use the ones I think are not and are appropriate for the character.
It's funky to be using what would normally be 9th level spells like Time Stop as cantrips - but hey - you can now use them more often (well, except for cooldowns). And anybody can use them. And of course, you don't need mods to get those higher spell levels (though I am using such mods). I'd personally think some should be class only, like Holy Nova for clerics and paladins, and many of them wizard only, but hey, it's your barbecue. I just personally decide to give Holy Nova only to my clerics and paladins which I think is right.
*I believe canonically in BG3, Imoen is already dead, but canon, brannon, LOL. I'm using Orpheus as a hireling, which makes no in game sense either, but that's not stopping me, LOL2. I love Imoen's nifty pink spells to match her pink hair. Still punk after all these years. I think it's kinda curious you obviously can use Sarevok to fight Sarevok, or Orin to fight Orin. LOL3. I don't use those summons.
Ok. I'm sorry to keep being pesky, but ... could you do this?
Add a spell icon that does the following -- having switched to the (common tab) 'spellbook' (but not) option: removes all Gigas cantrips from the hotbar, but leaves them in Common tab. Then, I can just drag the Gigas cantrips I want from Common to the hotbar, instead of having to remove all the ones I don't ... which is a long process. Or, perhaps, simply tweak the 'metamagic' spell to add everything to Common, but NOT automatically put everything on the hotbar. Could that be done?
It sure would make using just the ones I want (on each character) a lot easier. BTW, I'm really digging Imoen's cute pink spells and abilities. I just wish she would say "It's me, Imoen!" when you click on her. As for your version of Boo: well, I've always suspected there was something 'different' about Boo ... that Minsc wasn't totally lying about his miniature giant space hamster being unusual. LOL.
For the Warp Party and Call Party spells alone, your codex is worth it. Translocate? Marvelous for those odd times Larian puts a chest or box strangely out of reach. And then there's all the OP stuff, but I'm not complaining about that. Holy Nova can basically vaporize certain undead encounters.
Brilliant spells to solve problem with buggy enemies, which crash the game in the end of their turn. Now we have oppotunity to bypass their 100+ HP and "Sanctuary" and save our nervs, time and game saves.
I am having issues updating from 32 to 33. I made sure I had no summons or other lingering effects from your mod and took a long rest and then made a save. I update to 33 and try to go in game but get the ':mod: is missing' pop up and cant get past the loading screen. Is there anything else I need to do? I seen you mentioned something about removing all Root Templates, how do I do that?
Got it to work using 'Mod Uninstaller' from Nexus and used its menu in MCM and just deleted the entire mod there, then made a save and was able to start game with 33 loaded up.
Hey, nice find of a mod. Yeah, the engine always had problems with mod uninstallation, mainly with Templates. Let's hope the official modding support of mods made in the Glasses fixed this.
I don't recommend that. I wouldn't bother anyway, especially for mods like this with tons of text and even more updates. I literally finished moments ago porting More Actions with 13 translations and it was a pain in the ass in Glasses.
I also noticed that the editor keeps some residual dialogues that are no longer used, but clutter the .xml file. I find that highly distasteful after having splendid, clean handles in the manual version. Heh.
I know exactly what you're talking about. Some modders don't even bother with including translations in their mods anymore from what I've heard. Too much trouble and translations become outdated anyway, making you have to contact the translator or re-do everything yourself every time.
Still, the translation is already done and I'm currently doing some proofreading ingame. Updates are no problem, it only take a few clicks for me to find the altered lines.
And your .xml files may be cluttered with unused content but nowhere as bad as other mods I've seen. :D No formatting, typos in comments and missing code tags for ingame status alignments, you name it.
Great mod. It's really nice to see Imoen in BG3. If I could just summon Aerie and Nalia... and some other girls from BG2 mods... And give them best items from this game... that would be awesome.

The 3 versions of the mod that managed to do this were not recreated in the Glasses.
