Downloads are saved in in 7z format instead of zip to get smaller files. If a ridiculous amount of time is estimated to unpack the mod you might not have a 7z capable app installed.
Just overwrite VFX_Gradient_Wave_02.dds from my Water mod with the one you get here
There are some extremely weird/annoying line effects coming out of fires/flame - is that due to this mods glow effects? If you look from certain angles there's just this "bloom" line effect stretching all across the screen and it's very frustrating - especially bad at night time in camp. Is anyone else experiencing the same?
I experienced this for the first time last night. I should mention I don't have Vivid Landscapes installed, so this must be some other issue. As you said, I noticed it in camp before resting for the night and couldn't figure out what it was for the longest time. I restarted my game after and didn't notice it anymore, and I in fact only ever noticed it in camp, but it's a very annoying bug nonetheless.
Some of the texture files are significantly smaller than the vanilla game.. could it be a result of patch 8? Just wondering if they are all actually better at this point. The first and last image on the right side are from the vanilla game. And I downloaded the 2K version
Hey! I always play around with filesizes to get the best results.
Those two diffuse textures are smaller by intention. They just show a monochrome grey surface and are often used as a 'underlay' for more detailed ash textures.
The _NM.DDS and _PM.DDS, are a lot more important here. They are twice the original resolution and contain the actual details to give the grey surfaces shadowing, depth and comlex gloss.
please help me out here. I'm trying to understand this. And I'm looking for the "best picture". You seem to understand this topic. I have a laptop with a 3070Ti GPU.. It doesn't have DP output and doesn't support HDR. I have a Samsung 49" external monitor. Wrong laptop aside, will/should your mods improve my picture or am I limited to resolutions where I won't can't notice a difference? Thanks
Could you also make a file that does the opposite to what this mod does. I find that fire and all that happen to drop FPS dramatically.
Edit: Perhaps a 512/1k file is in order? C: If you have any questions on how to do so I would be happy to answer them, Mod author to Mod author! Just DM me via my Nexus Profile.
Love your Vivid series. Just curious, do you plan on touching and upgrading any other assets beside landscape stuff? Most of the architectural textures in BG3 are decent enough, but there are a few clutters that have really low-res textures that kinda stick out as eyesores.

Hope you like the water as much, currently uploading a huge update!
Might be caused by your Graphics setting

Next I'll do some flora and maybe creatures... dragons would be nice;)
Besides, a big update for water is almost finished.
That being said your limiting factor is that 8gb of VRAM. In this case I'd run the "Best Choice" versions of these Vivid mods.

DirectX BG3 can be a bit picky about texture sizes though I think it would work for effects.
I' ll keep you informed
Most files are saved in 512
Looks quite nice and gives a noticable performance boost indeed!
