Just installed this for the first time now and is working fine as of patch#3 hotfix 9 Great mod, saving me a lot of time speed-reading all those books. Maybe you just need to add in some clear instructions that this mod should stay in overrides in BG3MM, or be installed as a replacer on Vortex so people with less experience with modding won't get screwed by their own lack of knowledge. Since it will, indeed cause modsettings.lsx to get wiped if it is in load order.
Quick story - After the Witcher 3 Next Gen Update I played the minigame of Updating and Troubleshooting Mods Every Damn Day for the first few months of updates. Prior to that update, the modding ecosphere for 1.32 had been pretty stable for a while. It took me about 5 months before I was back to where I could load a 1.32 save in 4.x with everything working (250 mods or so). I actually ended up running around updating other ppl's mods because they couldn't all keep up with the unsettled landscape of a new version. No other game has been such a pain to keep up with modding, until this one.
It's GREAT that Larian continues to heavily support their game after its release but considering there have been both minor and major updates almost every week since it came out, it has to be MADDENING as a mod author to keep up... Maybe now that Patch 5 is out an update is in order but I don't blame authors for not wanting to reinspect the game and their mods every single update when it could potentially break or necessitate repeat work next week or the week after. Still very much appreciate what you're doing and to anyone in the middle of a playthrough - don't update your game. It's not worth it. Finish your playthrough first rather than bother authors with update requests. Patch 3 hotfix 9 was a good place to chill with mods, most caught up support for that version... patch 4 and its two hotfixes came way too fast and a lot of mods fell behind; some still are and now here we are on P5 already. Might even get another hotfix before xmas. Gods bless mod authors.
I hope you feel better soon, if not already. Cheers
This mod caused all of my other mods to stop working until I disabled it. I was using vortex mod manager, so hopefully it works with BG3MM, but would not recommend using with Vortex.
To anyone coming here, this mod is broken... it deletes modsettings.lsx upon starting the game with it. It probably can be salvaged if you unpack it and look into the content but it won't work as is.
That was the reply that was in place of the above one. Pavelk said your mod is fine and it works for him, and obviously he knows what he is doing. For me, if your mod is in the load order then it deletes modsetting.lsx
I can have it disabled in overrides and modsettings.lsx will work, probably the mod too... but haven't tried since I'm still troubleshooting. So why it can be put into the load order is beyond me if it was intended as a replacer only or something I don't understand. Tried with both BG3MM and Vortex, and I don't know... again, just want to use your mod.
It is an override only mod apparently. Shouldn't be in the load order in BG3MM, and can't probably be installed with Vortex unless the user marks it as a replacer.
Pavelk's mods are also overrides, but they work anyhow placed in the load order without resetting the modsettings.lsx file.
I don't know what to tell any of you, I've installed and used my own mod multiple times for testing, I've also been playing the game and adding mods no problem. I install and play using BG3MM.
I cannot test for circumstances I cannot recreate, and as an author of much more complicated mods, I can assure you I've thoroughly tested this one. There's nothing else to fix or change unless a game update changes this file again, which I don't see as a likely thing.
Go figure, I say it's not likely to be updated, but lo and behold they included a new version in the patch.
Though, it's bizarre, the literal only change is some white space added to one of the lines, that's usually just formatting and not really important though.
Since I'm not as familiar with this engine, I'll push an update shortly instead of making assumptions.
Would it be technically possible to create a mod that auto opens any book or letter that you loot so that the only thing you have to do is to click away the window of the book/paper? I don't want to miss any hidden quests giving by books and such but by the amount of books you stumble over such a hypothetically mod would be really helpful? I don't mind the animation but would like to see the whole process automated. Once a new book arrives in inventory -> auto open it. Would that be possible?
+1 That would be pretty handy. I would even like a "Pick Up / Take Book" button on the reading screen, so plop it right into our inventory after reading.
Whenever I install this mod using BG3 and enter the game again to load the saving, it will prompt me that all mods have been disabled. I don't understand why
I'm sorry, I have no idea. I've downloaded and installed the mod from this page multiple times to test and I've had no problems. I've also now been playing with the mod since I made it without any problems.
