I'm on patch 8 with the latest hotfix and I've tried both the tattoo and the makeup version, but when I apply either of them it also causes small repeating black squares to appear over the entire body, most notably on the arms. I'm using unique tav, but other tattoo/makeup replacer mods haven't done this, so I thought I'd throw this out there as a possible (?) issue.
Oh I think UniqueTav name their files differently, I don't use UT but I think other ppl has been able to use my file by renaming it exactly as other file UT usually use? Let me know if that helps.
I updated my game to patch 8, and it's working as intended, no need to update this mod if you have it, it would not work with some races mod that have their own texture like Satyr mod or WotD Aasimar mod but that's the same for every patch tho.
Could you, please, very kindly, explain in as simple terms as possible how to properly export a dds file to make it work in-game? If I download your file, and want to make additional edits to other makeup options, such as to add beauty marks, how do I properly export it? I can't find a tutorial anywhere online, despite looking. The only thing I found said to export it with BC5 compression and Kaiser filter on the mipmaps. Needless to say, this is NOT working. I can do the edits myself, so you don't have to worry about that. I would very much appreciate info on how to properly export it to work in the game. Thanks!
+ How this mod works: - So my mod is a loose file mod, and it has a specific folder structure when you extract it from the zip file. When you put the whole thing into the 'Generated' folder it will act as a separate file from the base game file, and when the game load it will prioritize and load all the files it found in the 'Generated' folder over base game files. So you can put your edit to the game's files this way and not affecting the base game. Also if you delete any file in this folder the game would just load the base file instead and it won't affect your saves. - But this method is also had a downside, because this file is used for everyone in the game, any tattoo or make up you edit would affect whichever NPC that are using it too. So if you don't want this you could look into UniqueTav because it would just assign the edits to your Tav only.
+ On how to edit the .dds files: - The .dds files can be edited with any photo editing software that support .dds file extension. For example, Photoshop with .dds plugins, or GIMP (free) will be able to open and save .dds files. I used Photoshop so when you save there will be some option like the one you looked at, and face tattoo and makeup file will have different save settings than the body tattoo file.
+Steps to make your own edits from blank files: [1] Install the blank files from the modder I credited in my post: Upscaled Tattoos (and more) by soryumi by extracting it to your 'Generated' folder per the mod description. If you want to edit my files you can install mine and edit its files instead. [2] Go to that location inside your Generated folder. You should see 2 files in it: Skin_Atlas_Head_SHR_Makeup_A_MSK2.dds and Skin_Atlas_Head_SHR_Tattoo_A_MSK1.dds Either of the files would have 3 channels in it, red, green and blue, and each channel can store a 4x4 grid of tattoo/make up in it, if you open my files you can see I edit the tattoo files to have the stubble on it also. (I assumed you are familiar with editing image files with channels so if you run into any problems you can ask more under this). [3] After editing to your liking, save it with the exact same name, the settings for Photoshop to edit Makeup or Face tattoo (file with MSK in its name) would be DTX1, mipmap enabled (Kaiser). [4] Then you replace the files in that folder with your edit, and next time the game load it will load your file instead. If you save the files with wrong settings it would make your Tav face all stripes or something. And no need to do anything with any mod manager because you are modding the game directly. [5] To uninstall or changing anything just delete or swap out the files.
And I think that's it, you can ask more under this if you have any problems.
Thank you very much! Yes, I was having trouble finding which compression to use. I tried the ones I found recommended online, but they resulted in the black stripes on the face, as you mentioned. I didn't see anyone recommend the DTX1 compression type, so I will try that instead. Thanks!
Hi, I don't have a console so I don't know how to put it on console. But anyone who do can do it you have my permission to put it on console with credits.
Hoping eventually you'll add a non replacer version with improved UI or something? I'll keep the mod tracked just in case. Mod looks good tho man nice job
Okay so, Ive been going crazy trying to make this work. Im using the version that replaces the 16th makeup spot replacing the file on the Data folder but it doesnt seem to work on all faces. You could argue that they were modded faces but is not even working on base game faces. For me its working on 1 or 2 random faces tops and i really dont know why, It just keeps putting that make up as if the file didnt change
Love the mod, but I noticed it seems to be misaligned in my game. It's placed too high so there is a noticeable gap between the top of the lip to where the mustache starts. It's placed to so high the mustache goes into the nose. It's also too far to the left, where the stubble hair is going on the left ear. Any way to correct this?
Hi there, what file did you use and on what face mod? I have experienced that in some of the custom face because the way some head are made stressing the UV out more so it would misaligned. I could make a custom file for that exact face to fix it i think.
Thank you so much ^^ My boys are wearing stuffs from Slutty Closet (really well made skimpy clothing and for bt4 too) and bits and bobs from the NSFW Basket to mix things up
