It's winnable but you need to be lucky with your initiave + play very defensively, i.e, running away every turn. If you had a way to slow it down such as Ray of Frost, even better.
I do enjoy the mod a lot, but given that it is actually pretty damn hard to kill the Mindflayer (still possible) on "tactical" difficulty. You think you could modify the experience it gives when defeated? Right now, it's 10exp. I have no idea if this is possible, but it would make sense to gain some amount greater than 10 exp.
You're definitely right. XP is tied to level, and I had nerfed the level of the mind flayer from 8 to 3. I just released a new version which increased the XP to compensate for that, among some other things. Thanks for the interest!
Glad you were receptive to the feedback, thank you for the update! Sorry for not responding. Nexus is not the best platform for conversations via posts.
There are odd issues if you manage to kill TMF before it moves. For one, the animation becomes odd (TMF does not fall down, and instead enters a kind of flashing T-Shape), but worse than that - the tadpole pool becomes impossible to interact with.
Idk how you did this, but is there any possibility of adding new enemies in other areas of the game?? I've been enjoying Tactician Plus but I really wish there were more enemies, not just higher health pools.
That's actually my primary goal with learning level editing. This was really just something I made in like 30 minutes last night once I realized I had learned enough I could make and release something interesting. Thanks for the comment!
I looked into the EA ship, but it's pretty much hopeless unfortunately. Too much has changed, namely flag placements and just the actual level visuals.
Yo, this thing is pretty impossible in Tactician, I get the feeling you've never tested him in this difficulty. Making him Surprised and Prone'd like some of the other commenter said here would make him more manageable.
Might I suggest that the TMF starts Surprised, that way we don't need to reload the save ten times to finally get the lucky hit some classes need to not die.
the idea is good, but it shouldn't be hostile since we are his "brother", that's why the little ones and the one on the ship's bridge are friendly.Once crashed is when the little ones become hostile regardless of whether they helped the master against the demon.Although it is interesting to know that the mind flayers can still be alive after the accident, or that they are around the map waiting to receive "thanks" for giving us a worm >_<
Not really, if you manage to kill the demon (to get the sword) and that mind flayer is still alive, it will then try to kill you. So they actually are hostile before the crash.
Mindflayer wins initiative roll (i'm a bard), and one shots me every single time (Tactician).
Cool concept, just not working.
(edit - After a dozen of quickloads, managed to get good rolls on it and killed it. still unbalanced. Thanks for it though, very cool intro to the game!)
Thanks for the feedback. Definitely want to leave it as pretty unbalanced for this one- I'll likely add a balanced version into my revamped Nautiloid mod.
As for the dead body remaining upright, I wonder if that's from the fix I tried for the tentacles. Kind of funny though, I'll also leave it for this mod.
Look out for my future work and thanks for the comment again!

Playing on balanced
Regardless, I dig this change. Nice work!

(edit2 - After killing him, dead body just remained upright - 37d850380781bbb4f76e5df8db22787e.png (469×520) (gyazo.com) - and flickering nonstop. not a big deal, just giving feedback)
