Would be cool to see a lore centric version of this for one of the various gods or entities associated with all things caustic and slimey, some that come to mind are Jubilex, Ghaunadaur, and Bwimb.
I would really like to make the descriptions and concepts of the pieces of equipment that I design more immersive, but for better and for worse, my entry into the DnD Universe was through this incredible game :D Due to my lack of knowledge I ended up giving my objects descriptions from other games or franchises that I have played as an "Easter Egg", as a small tribute :p
'Sall good, glad to have you in the D&D community, can't mod to save my life so it's always nice to see someone taking a stab at it. Just know that if you do try to understand the lore that there's a hell of a lot of information, a lot of it being contradictory between various iterations the pen and paper canon across the last 50 years. Suffice it to say that even after five years of wargaming with friends and family I'm still learning new stuff all the time.
If you wanted to base the ring on Forgotten Realms lore here is 4 options based on Power Level (Weakest to Strongest) Daurgothoth The Creeping Doom (Black Dragon Dracolich) Juiblex (Demon Lord) Ghaunadaur (Greater Deity) Hadar (Elder Evil Old One)
No, it's a condition, it's literally a modified version of Burning, it does damage like a "DoT" when reapplied. When attacking, with acid damage, what it does is apply a status, not add a bonus to the damage.
Not your fault at all that I'm using the two weapon fighting overhaul mod, but with this ring my TWF Lae'Zel is able to stack all the way to melted within two swings as long as she doesn't miss her attacks. Makes it great for knocking a big bad down to where even Shadowheart can beat their AC :)
Maybe a little stronger than I would like :p at level 5, or with dual wielding, or even area skills/spells, the speed with which it stacks is dangerous, but as more than a damage buff it is a support tool, I felt that it was not so unbalanced, I even considered reducing the accumulations for attacks to 1 or limiting its application to once per turn. I can even make a separate version with some of the limitations that I mentioned before.
I'd love to see a version for the ice element, focusing on extreme cold damage and frostbite. I see absolutely nothing about this element, as I play with an "ice queen" theme, items with the mechanic would be great, even more so if they had a more OP version for my runs full of mods and classes that I love. Since I increase the enemies' statics drastically to have a gameplay immersion equivalent to my damage and levels. Please do something like this, I beeeeg yooooou😭
I have to sit down and design some interesting mechanics with the Cold element, I don't promise anything, but I will be thinking about the idea, also this month I am full between my personal life and with the mods that I am preparing for the 2 remaining weeks of the Modathon, In fact, a simple piece is coming to enhance Cold's Build, which practically uses several passives that already exist in-game, but concentrated in one piece of equipment.
Without thinking too much about it... Maybe a piece of equipment that speeds up the process of freezing enemies, some mechanic to break the freeze and do area damage... I have also been thinking for a long time about giving a support attribute to the element... perhaps an aura that empowers allies in some way and at the same time slowly applies Freeze to enemies... lots of ideas...
You are a sweetheart, I would love a passive that freezes and explodes like the sharp pieces of ice hurting the target, similar to the freeze of the character Aurora from Mobile Legends. " example bases" are the Pokemon's ice strikes, with mechanics such as Freeze-Burn (an ice that burns because it is so cold) or a shocking ice (freeze-shock) all based on stacking in turns. Creativity reigns, I think ice is aggressive and imposing, as well as the cold and the Ice Queen theme, I would like to see something innovative, but any incredible proposal like yours helps a lot Thank you, my dear <3
