Uploaded a new version, played for 30ish hours with Patch 8 / Hotfix 31
Main fix is that the Wight is again unaffected by poison (Ghastly Ghouls 4.0 reworked how healing from poison works). So if you like the poison healing stay with 1.20.
The change to Undying Defiance is mainly fixing it for a few niche situations (Harpies luring you during the conversation, Spectator frightening you in the surprise round, special Duergar mind control ability in the Nere battle).
Edit for version 1.22: Sorry for yet another update so quickly, but a rogue line break, disguised as a word wrap, broke almost all immunities the wight is supposed to get. The joy of modding BG3's text files.
The new version of the mod changes its identifier to work with the new integrated mod manager. This means that BG3 Mod Manager can't recognize it as an update, and complains that the old version is missing. Just proceed as if you installed a new mod. The new version will work fine with old savegames.
To get the new race skill in an old savegame, you need to go to Withers and respec. Just select another class and switch back and you can select the racial skill.
Love the idea here. How do you regain health in combat in a pinch with only 1 drain per combat if you can't heal from poison with this iteration? An endless cycle of someone using the help action to pick up my stabilized character only to go down from my low hp again the next turn seems less than appealing. (Half the time this happens to me normally even with healing on a regular character but I still figured I'd ask)
Healing potions work fine, so I use them instead of throwing poison bottles. Then there's always Misty Step, Sanctuary and a relaxed downstate you can ignore for a turn to see what the enemy is going to do while Tav is on the floor. So far I played an AC 20+ melee Gloomstalker Thief while making the mod, and currently an AC 18 Blade Goolock with lots of Temp HP, so I guess part of the secret is not getting hurt in the first place :)
BTW: Life drain doesn't provide any healing. To a Wight life force is like a drug, thus you just get a rush when Life Drain succeeds.
Ah, thanks for the clarification. I figured the undead tag alone would disable healing through normal means. I noticed it doesn't heal after i posted this haha. Still a fun mechanic. Thanks for your work!
