Winged Tieflings’ Wings
As regularly requested, I’ve implemented improvements to the Winged Tiefling subrace’s Wings. This would not have been possible without the incredible work done by my fellow modder Nikjima, who invested a lot of her time and energy into creating a beautiful set of fiendish wings. She has been incredibly kind and allowed me to use her mod as a dependency to give users of the Tiefling Compendium access to a much cleaner implementation of Tiefling Wings. ”Soaring Ambition - Ascended Fiend Wings” Depencency
This mod is now a semi-optional dependency for the Tiefling Compendium. What does this mean in practice?
If you’d like to play a Winged Tiefling, Soaring Ambition is necessary in order for your Wings to appear and function as intended. The new Wing system will not work if you do not also have Soaring Ambition installed. I have decided to implement these new Wings this way to ensure clarity on who created these Wings, as it was not me, as well as to ensure Nikjima receives the credit and downloads she deserves for making this possible.
If you’re not playing a Winged Tiefling, you’re not required to honor this dependency. You will receive a dependency error when loading up the game, but the remainder of the mod will still load correctly and function as intended. I would still recommend downloading these wings, though, as they’re very well done and also available for other Tiefling subraces via Soaring Ambition!
New Wing Implementation
In order to accomodate for the regular requests of allowing players to hide their Wings in dialogue, I have made the decision to change the way Winged Tieflings’ Wings are implemented.
Wings are no longer attached to your Tav at all times. They do not display in CC.
Winged Tieflings now have access to an ability called “Summon Wings”. Casting this ability once will grant you access to your Wings, which are implemented to occupy the Underwear slot. Implementing them as an item was necessary in order to allow the Wings to be hidden during dialogue.
You can equip and unequip your Wings as desired. Access to your racial abilities is not tied to these Wings, so there is no downside to unequipping them should you have the desire to do so at any point. If you’d like to wear Underwear with your Wings, you can do so by using the Wing items implemented by the Soaring Ambition Mod instead of your Tiefling Wings - there are multiple slot options available.
Wing Color & Glow
These new Wings’ color depends on your skin tone. The glow color of your wings can be changed by dying them - this will not change the base color of the Wings and only affects the glow. Please keep in mind that whichever dye you’re using must support the dying of glowing items; Nikjima has included various dyes for this purpose within Soaring Ambition.
