Hi! It's nice to see some people are still using at least a bit of my ancient portrait work. It would be ideal if you could credit me (and everyone else!) for the images on your description page, but it's an old game and I'd hope you did in the readme anyhow. So if you did, thanks. If you didn't, for shame. The rest of you can find my (old edition, not EE) portraits on DeviantArt here:
I was disappointed by this portrait pack. It gave me more portraits, but it wasn't terribly useful in the current Steam/Beamdog version of either BG1 or BG2. Here are the reasons:
(a) OUTDATED SIZES FOR CURRENT EDITION: This includes three versions of each portrait, which is no longer needed in the latest EE editions of Baldur's Gate (1 and 2). In the current edition, every potrait in this pack appears twice, one of which is fuzzy and blurred.
(b) INTERMIXED FACES & FULL BODIES: Some portraits are actually full-body illustrations, while others are just faces. The game normally uses faces for all NPCs that join your party, so including full body illustrations can create an unsightly mix.
(c) BAD CONTRASTS: Quite a few portraits are too dark. These picture become nothing but a dark, muddy blur in the game. There are ways to fix this, but it takes significant hand-tweaking in photoshop (or something equally powerful), which wasn't done.
(d) NO NSFW CONTENT: Contrary to various other comments, this entire set is completely safe for work, or for gaming with children present. The most risque illustrations are equivalent to your typical pop rock act or video. This could be a plus or minus, depending on your viewpoint.

so that being said im guessing it would be fine if i picked a few of them and not everything in the file?
deleted the readme and the bgee.sql file let me advance with a new game.
