FYI it stopped working for me after the latest update. I redownloaded and reinstalled the mod and that fixed it. (Prob only needed to reinstall though) Anyway, just wanted to mention it. Love the mod btw!
Yes, the game will overwrite the files on update. That's why you should use Vortex. You can simply revert the changes to keep the blank files (or re-install).
I appreciate that this was shared so quickly since this type of mod is IMO a priority for every game!
However, while it does technically work as advertised, it is not exactly what I was expecting and initially confused me for a second. Looking at the comments here, I seem to not be the only one so here's a quick explanation that hopefully helps someone out...
Spoiler:

After the shaders fully compile my screen went black with a spinning circle icon running in the center. I assumed (incorrectly) that it was just my game catching up for a second but a solid minute went by with no change. Since I had seen this mods sticky note to "Press Space or Esc to skip through black screens" I clicked and waited again but still no visual change happened until after a couple more clicks that finally brought me to the seizure warning screen (and I breathed a sigh of relief). Understanding now that the icon screen WAS the black screens mentioned in the instructions made me realize that it was actually a video replacement that had been seamlessly duplicated for each of the three startup videos (Obsidian, UE, & Xbox) - thus the need to click to skip three times to advance the startup sequence - which is fine, just not what I was expecting.
For a visual reference, this is what the "black screens" looks like...
Since I was hoping for an option that completely removed the videos (and thus removing the need to click to advance the startup sequence) I went back to searching and was happy to find a mod that fit what I was wanting a bit closer with very little extra looking.
This didn't skip any screens for me and ended up making it longer with this new circle loading screen. Then when I was able to skip that I had to skip each video again
It's UE5, so it will be pretty good. Scripting through UE4SS, pak mods for meshes, textures, sound, UI, etc.
The Vortex extension I made supports all of these types of mods, so it's just up to the community to dig into the files, fire up Unreal Engine, and go to work.
That makes me so excited lol I got to play for a few hours before work and I was pleasently surprised by how good it felt. I had ideas for some QoL tweaks as I was running the tutorial area but I have no idea if those are addressed later in the game. Like passively recharging essence and health. Slow recharge while in combat and fast recharge out of combat. Similar to skyrim in a way
GhostlyComa, its meh actually, if you not familiar with UE. Any simple operation requires a lot of legwork, you need 5+ tools to do relatively simple things (UESS, fmodel, zentools, UAssetGUI, IOStorePackage, UE duh etc), updates usually break mods. Dive in only if you really feel motivated.
