Using mouse wheel to scroll through weapons has always been problematic since Quake (unless you've got a racing pricey mouse). Mouse wheel itself and the buttons directly on it are to be avoided for that purpose. PC has no issue with the number of buttons available, so you don't need to scroll through all of your weapons in combat to find the one you need - you can select directly and momentarily.
Shift as a hold for sprint gives better control over character movement which is especially important in combat - you are always sure that you're sprinting when needed and not sprinting when not needed as you control the speed directly. Toggle is ambiguous - you can't be sure what speed you're moving at as it's an FPS game, you're not seeing the character, you're looking at your aiming reticle and dodging attacks while being surrounded with FX from all the action. Scars Above recent demo is a good example of a very tactical game hurting its own good mechanics by toggle sprint - moments in combat when you need to be precise to avoid attacks/traps are chaotic because of it.
Atomic Heart is perfect for people who never touched KB&M to get used with it. It's an enjoyment, because you can target body parts freely and at your own discretion not being managed by automated aim-assist. And if you're a KB&M player, it's an opportunity to train your fingers and get used to a scheme that lets you to have a full player control on simultaneous character movement and actions. Give it a try, you will most probably end up liking it and becoming better at combat even.
(Also to let you know from a technical point of view: user menu button assignment for newly created actions (sprint) is not possible (for now at least) and for weapon scrolling they are not working - an error of some kind by devs in their c++ code. Making sprint button a toggle might be possible, but it's a time investment into something that's not worthwhile from our experience.)
Using this "zAHControls_65prc_P" WILL CRASH THE GAME, SPECIALLY IF YOU READ MESSAGES IN THOSE BLUE MONITORS ON THE GAME, at least that's my case on (fully updated game, with the latest Nvidia drivers). 06/06/24
Yes it still does it, it's a shame because that's the only thing that makes it crash, I haven't had any other problems apart from that one. I uninstalled it to stop having this problem but it really sucks because the character goes too fast without it :/
Please update the mod :( I'd also like if you included a version that didn't disable mouse wheel weapon scrolling, I like using that. I mainly just want the "Shift to Sprint" part of this mod.
I have a problem, I'm playing with a French keyboard, not an English one, so the direction keys are z,q,s,d. How do I change the configuration, because right now it's a mess, I have to use w,a,s,d to move around.
You are awesome. Too bad developers don't develop to PC and port to monkeys' consoles instead. Thank you for giving us PC players some of that which we should always expect in games.
As of March 2024, this mod is bugged to shit. Using terminals STILL causes a hard crash, as has been reported time and time again. I can confirm this mod is the culprit, as it is the only one in my collection with which the crash occurs when installed alone.
Your mod crashes game when I try to enteract with terminals. Btw, I just want to disable weapon pick with mouse scrolling, so can you release this feature standalone?
heads up i think this mod is now incompatible as of patch 1.7, it crashes the game when interacting with PEARs. i've tested it by interacting with multiple of them and each time i have this mod in use it crashes

What is QTE QE buttons?
1. Scrolling through dialog with mwheel is nice, but the tradeoff to not have that ability in combat is not worth it (imo)
2. It has broken the ability to throw objects which is needed for solving some puzzles.
It's a no for me big dawg (for now at least)
