Hide the abysmal LOD and get modern day AA and AO with these Reshade shaders

In 2014 Assassin's Creed Unity launched with lots of Character and Texture Pop-In and an enormous amount of bugs. While most of the bugs were fixed, the problematic LOD system survived until today. Basically every texture more than 10 m away from you has a high chance of not being loaded properly. Everything further than 100 m is likely a blur. In addition, the antialiasing (AA) is very costly in terms of performance vs quality and ambient occlusion (AO) technology has improved over the past 5 years.
After a lot of swearing I decided to tackle these problems with a modern day Reshade preset. SDAO is now used as ambient occlusion to get smooth, natural self-shadowing. Depth-dependend SMAA covers most of the edges, while a small amount of strong FXAA is added to smooth out
shader edges on e.g. reflexions. Both AA implentations are very efficient compared to in-game MSAA. The gained FPS are invested to cover up the low texture resolution in the distance. Addition of a mild fog and a really cost-efficient DOF implementation now give a soft, eye-friendly view on the horizon. With a RX480 and i7-4770k at 1440p, regular gameplay gives 36-56 FPS and cutscenes hover around 33 FPS, yielding a good quality-performance ratio for this 3rd person action rpg. Screenshots are appended, but in in the end there is no better comparison than playing with this preset. Thus, download and judge for yourself!

In addition a mild collection of ACU.ini (the file from your "Documents\Assassin's Creed Unity" folder) settings, which might have a positive impact - I am not sure myself:
Tessellation=0
UseVolumetricFog=0
MotionBlur=0
PostEffectsQuality=0
PostFX=0
ShadowMapSize=3072
DistanceLOD=2

O yes, I forgot to mention that I used a small amount of tone mapping to remove that blue filter from the game and reduce the oversaturation and overexposure. :)

Finally, as always either
a) unzip the "all_in_one" package to your "Ubisoft\Assassin's Creed Unity" folder OR
b) download the newest Reshade from here "https://reshade.me/" and unzip the "presets_only" package to your "Ubisoft\Assassin's Creed Unity" folder
