Could you make a version without the weapon and class changes?
I clicked on the mod for a swarm rebalance, not a weapon / class rebalance.
The changes you made to xenos are very nice, because I also prefer more enemies, not bullet sponge enemy, but I don't agree with many of the weapon changes like to pulse rifle and pike sniper, shouldn't be used for hipfire trash...
Aliens actually die from the "armor piercing, high explosive" rounds that the pulse rifle is meant to have, with a good shot to the head or a couple on the torso like they are meant to. Not the bullet sponges the base game makes them.
Having so may enemies makes it so much more important to have good tactics as well as good skills when they overrun your position. That's one of the best ways to make the game harder rather than making them take lots of rounds which makes you feel like you're firing a water pistol at them. I've completed the base game on "insane" mode and yes it is definitely a challenge but I find it boring - it is simply not fun to play imo.
It feels a bit more like playing left4dead. In other words more fun! It also reminds me of the original AvsP game on the PC in that your weapons actually feel like they are powerful.
If only you could tweak the game more and make limbs come off the aliens when you shoot them there and have them keep crawling at you. And alter all the stupid perks the attachments give you - seriously, gun working part changes should make a gun fire faster, not a frick'n barrel attachment. They really don't know much about guns the designers of the base game!
Having some xenos that burst out of some other of the planet's species with say a tongue that can grab you would be great - I know, an idea from L4D, but it would force the fireteam to use different tactics and maybe not be able to cram in a hallway and bottleneck the aliens so easily.
I actually think the the map designs could be done better to make the team have to run, fall through holes, climb stairs etc rather than sit in one position would be great too. Other game modes like versus etc would be great.
I know that it's unlikely that any of these ideas will be done by the game makers nor modders but I do believe this game could really do as well as L4D if it had more support.
Anyway, thanks for such a great mod, even if I can only use it on single player due to them not allowing mods in multiplayer games
Yes I'm wondering this as well, also does that version include "Lowered health and damage scaling."? If so, can you do a version where on Extreme and Insane the specials don't have as much health?
It was a requested version that has all the changes except 3x the enemies. It has the lowered health and damage scaling as well as all other listed changes. I could probably do a mod with reduced elite hp. If that's the only change you want it would be a separate mod entirely though.
Really happy with this one, as this addresses the second biggest complaint most people have (asides from content) - that at higher difficulty levels the bullet sponginess just gets ridiculous. Thanks!
i'm looking to donate $100 dollars to anyone that can make these drones, spitters and warriors AI changes for Aliens fireteam: 1. Drones need to have silent footsteps, no screeching noise when coming and have them to have more random spawns and come out more often through out the level. 2. warriors should also not roar when it spawns 3. Spitters should and acid exploding xenos should get a 20 percent speed buff and spitters should not stand in the same location after spitting more than twice. 4. Prowlers need a 30 percent speed buff and increase attack damage more than the Runner Xeno 5. no color dots for special and boss xenos on the motion tracker
Don't know if the game was patched and this stopped working or not but it doesn't seem to do anything when applied. Ammo counts are the same, cooldowns are the same, and enemies don't seem squishier.
Hey, sorry for the late response, my desire to mod this game died with their singleplayer only lock on modded games. Not fun with bots for me. Feel free to use the files.
Sorry to hear that, not that I blame you (I feel the same way about the exclusion for single player); but I just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed your swarm mod very much :)
What would I download if I just want the elite spawns increased but with less health? I like the elites in this game, but the Warriors and Drones can be a bit too bullet spongey at times.
Hey again, Speaking of the Stationary sentryguns in mission 01 Breach i found some intresting lines if you could rebalance them migt be helpful it's the Critter_UA571_TurretGun i tested some changes with your swarm horde on intense but the turrets still need balance like damage/reaction time maybe some other small changes ive noticed in original they weren't set to auto IsAutomatic,0 changed 0 to 1 for auto made them more cooler and firerate tested same for smartgun just seemed right hehe TimeBetweenShots,0.06 the lower made them fire even faster But would be cool if you can make a nice balance for the technicians sentry and the UA571, And once again Ty for these awesome mods:)
Interesting. I definitely prefer this level of enemy density and squishiness, absolutely. Not sure about the triple boss spawn, though. Is it possible to retain bosses (Warriors, Praetorians, Crushers, etc.) to their default spawns and durability? The VA explicitly calls out "Warrior!" - singular. That part somewhat makes the game feel like a hacked rom, in that the changes from base design are very obvious. Everything else feels great.
