I'm expecting this utility to become obsolete (other than possibly for Achievement progress) with the release of AFE Season 2 in a bit under a week. (FINALLY) I'll update as to if and how it's still relevant after Season 2 is out.
Based on the patch notes that were released yesterday, I'm expecting Statistics Viewer to crash when started(It's got almost no error handling code, so changing the location of the savegame will put it in a situation of being unable to recover.) after the Season 2 patch. Don't worry about it. Either Statistics Viewer will be obsolete and people can just delete it, or I'll update it to work(assuming there aren't more significant changes that were done to AFE) shortly.
Surprisingly, Statistics Viewer kept working fine(other than not updating data) for players who had been playing AFE prior to Season 2. (The old savegame is still there.) It likely crashed for new post-Season 2 players. It's now been updated so it should work with everyone, though Lifetime Stats has thankfully made things largely obsolete here, other than some Achievement progress tracking.
Took a look today, you appear to be correct. After some investigation, Cold Iron is using a new cipher on their savegame, but it's not just a brain dead offset from what they were previously using. This won't be a quick fix, but I'll take a look when it appeals. For now, probably have to assume the AFE Stat Viewer is no longer functional, until I get around to figuring it out. Full disclosure on that: since Cold Iron added Lifetime Stats to the game half a year ago, it's not a huge priority for me anymore. That said, it is fully open source, if anyone is inclined to take a crack at it: https://github.com/JasonHutton/AFEStatViewer Everything you'd want to look at for that is in the LoadSavegame() function, probably. While I've not deciphered it yet, looking at the data suggests it's not a complex cipher, fwiw.
