This custom shader originally designed for SDR mode, but it also can be use with HDR mode. Just made some adjustment for Dark Level, Light Intensity and Color Saturation via UI to match your Monitor/TV HDR screen profile and your liking.

    Additional notes:
    - It will not compatible with frame-gen (as it cannot reach out any AI generated frame to be post-processing), it can cause blinking if you combine it with frame-gen. So please disable it.
    - It may too sharp if you are using DLAA. I made this with DLSS mode; therefore please stay tuned I will upload an alternative version without sharpening pass (UPDATE: now this alternative version is available under "optional files" section).
    - for SDR mode; I have using Gamma 2.2 as my default reference for my Monitor and TV. If you are using sRBG Gamma, then please try to lowering "Dark Level" value from my shader UI from default 0.069 to somewhere 0.029 to avoid too dark look on shadows area. You can check what is your current standard Gamma from game settings under Options > Graphic > Brightness Calibration > Color and Brightness Range

    Update 1.01:
As some friends may get result with over-sharpening look on DLAA mode or shimmering more noticeable on FSR mode then I've uploaded an alternative version without sharpening pass post-processing. I hope the result will better now.

    WIP: Beyond Ultra Edition
    - Stronger Indirect Light bounce
    - Exponential High Fog (to mimic better "Volumetric Fog" and "Light Shaft") ~ Inspired by Unreal Engine ;)
    - Cons: only noticeable with Ray-Tracing mode or Path-Tracing mode enabled :(

Great work, nicer than Better FX -Cinematic

Works fine with framegen mod; using 1.01, the sharpened version is a little overbaked for my liking with quality dlss. Perhaps a weaker version of the sharpening would be more suitable... but I'm happy with 1.0.1

Hey, great Mod. However, I have two questions. 1) when I installed the reshade version 5.9.2 into alan wake, i selected all effect packages, but when I open the reshade menu there is only AlanWake2 that is selected. Is this simply for convenience sake and is intended or has something gone wrong( I ask because most reshades on other games have various effects selected)? It also fails to load an hdr shader but I dont think that has anything to do with the mod 2) in most cutscenes and certain parts of the game with the AlanWake2 shader enabled, the screen simply goes black and I have to deactivate shader temporarily. I think I've gone wrong somewhere but not sure how. Any help would be much appreciated.

Do not run any Reshade Installer. Just extract all my files and folder, drag and drop it into the proper folder as mention on the description page how to install it.

Absolutely awesome job mixing those three shaders into this masterpiece; it really looks great. I added in the Unsharp shader, and it really brings it to the next level. A little extra performance hit, but the end result is awesome. If you haven't tested that gem of a shader, maybe check it out!

Could you elaborate on the Unsharp shader? Is it just the effect in the ReShade UI, if so what settings should I use? or is it some mod?

Absolutely amazing mod dude, once you try it there is no way you will ever wanna go back and play the vanilla version. With a powerful graphics card and this mod combined you truly get next gen graphics. I dare to say this is as close as it gets to realism so far. Thanks a lot again and wish you all the best ;)

    This is a great MOD...
Can you also make one to turn off aiming reticle (crosshair) please...
The game won't let you do it even when you disabled all HUD in the settings
    I like REALISM...

      thank you, mate.
Regarding to gun reticle, that's difficult since for now we don't have any tools to modify directly to game asset (in this case game script).

Thank you for this, I'm going to test it shortly.  Any recommendations for the in game settings, such as DLAA to use with this?  This looks like it will be glorious on an oled display.

Idk what's going on here but mine looks nothing like your video.  Way too over sharpened I think, as I have almost a white outline around my character.  I'm running with all in-game options nearly maxed (13900k/4090), including DLAA.   I'm also on an OLED display with 10bit color and have HDR enabled in Windows 11.  Any advice?

Ah, I see. So it was too sharp if you are using DLAA. I was made this since I've just using DLSS with performance mode (half native resolution).
Ok thanks your feedback. I will upload an alternative version without sharpening pass as soon as I've get home.

      Stay tuned! :)

      Cheers mate,
      Chris

ps. Did you also enable HDR mode in Alan Wake 2? or you just enabled HDR in Windows 11 only? You should enabled it both (in Windows 11 and inside Alan Wake 2).
How to enable HDR mode in Alan Wake 2 :
Options > Graphic > Brightness Calibration > Color and Brightness Range > click on HDR (from SDR as default).

Also, if your OLED display is TV, then please make sure your TV HDMI input is set to PC mode to avoid double image post processing (e.g sharpening, etc.). When TV input set PC mode, then all post-processing from TV will disable.

Thanks, I just read everything you added here.  And yes, I'm all kitted out with my setup at home...full chroma 4:4:4, 10bit color, HGIG, g-sync, VRR, 120hz and of course all of that set on the PC input.  Running Win11 with HDR, so a lot of little one-offs that I'm sure most don't encounter with a monitor.  Lemme tell you tho, this game on a 77" oled in a pitch black room with 7.2.4 atmos can be terrifying at times.  Fun times LOL

Amazing work! Looks really good in game.  I moved some additional textures and shaders from the regular Reshade install into the simple-realistic folder that comes with your files so that I could add Luma Sharpen and Vibrance effects to your preset, for my personal preference.  Just mentioning in case anyone wants to make personal tweaks for their game and was curious about how to do it.

You added more sharpening?  What kind of settings are you running this game and resolution?  Something's def not working correctly, eithe with frame gen, HDR or 10bit color.  Saga's got an extra layer of hair popping in and out for me, almost like an afro-halo effect going on, plus the white outline around her.  My image looks like his video without anything so I just removed it entirely now.

Thank you, mate! I'm glad you like it. :)

      @ntstambo
I made this with DLSS mode (performance ~ half native res.). And FYI, this mod based on Reshade so it will not support frame gen (it cannot reach the regenerated frames to post-process it) that the reason why you will see some weird popping in and out on her hair. if you see my frame so high (in my YT video) that because I was running Alan Wake with lowest settings (DLSS w/o frame-gen + Low-medium settings, and all RT and PT OFF ~ It simulated performance mode under my PS5... lol). In higher graphic settings my OBS just crashes when recording video @4K, and I don't know why :(

ahh ok thank you.  I just came back and had a chance to catch up on your updates and saw the additional clarity you provided.  Makes sense...I haven't modded in a while and complete forgot about the frame gen incompatibility thing I guess.
