The file name should be render.ini just remove the .txt and save it. The correct file path to install this is C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Remedy\AlanWake2. Testing this now :)
EDIT: Okay so after testing this, what it really does is just change your graphic settings. It does not actually improve upon what you already have set. When you change anything in your graphic settings it updates your render.ini. So this will not have RT on and most of the options are set to medium or low hence the rise in fps ;) So if you are getting good performance where you are this won't actually do anything you cannot do yourself by adjusting your graphic settings. Running: i7 11700K 4070 ti 32gb Ram Windows 11 Pro-Superlite Edition With everything set as high as it can go in the regular settings. 1440p, DLSS-Quality, FrameGen. Ray Tracing set to Low. Path Tracing Off. Transparency set to High. In the roughest parts of the game I get between 74-80fps in the less power hungry areas it's a smooth 90+ fps. Since this last patch the performance has gone up a little bit. Before at these same settings I would get 64-70fps in the rough areas and 80+ fps in the lighter areas. So overall about a 10fps gain.
you can change graphic settings according to your wish inside game menu it wont effect this custom config file , this file includes extra tweaks applied in it that cannot be change from game menu so you can customise settings according your hardware this tweak will still work fine.
Confused as to how that is happening since the render file gets overwritten when you change anything in the graphic settings. Looking at the original render and your render side by side it literally looks like you turned down your settings to really low. Like your native is 1080p and all the other parameters are just lower. Then you zipped up the render file and posted it here. Not trying to rip on you are anything like that, just not sure how yours would be doing anything different is all.
Maybe you could point out what the tweaks are and what is just a lowered graphic setting? Og on left and yours on the right.
Looks like both sides are my config file only I disable following setting which cannot be done from in game, film grain, chromatic absersation, deapth of field, Viginilate and 2 more tweak also, when you change graphic setting inside my config file won't be replaced the tweaks done will remain there always, like even in your file my tweaks are still even after ya customized the setting inside game so it won't get replaced.
Does anybody have some flickering using DLSS frame generator? Tried every setting and the issue still linger. Using a 4060ti, i7 9700 and 32 RAM DDR4, Windows 11.
Yes, i do experience severe tearing while enabling Frame Generation. The fps do increase, but the screen tearing is brutal. I havent experienced this in other games when using Frame Gen. I've tried everything, vsync, frame cap, etc, but to no avail. Specs; 4090 with Alienware 34 qdOLED with GSYNC Ultimate enabled, so there should be no screen tearing, but there is.
So i'm playing with everything maxed out but without Frame Gen at 60fps with vsync enabled.
When the DLSS quality file and DLSS Frame Generation are opened simultaneously, there will be dragging shadows. This file fixes the DLSS Frame Generation fault
I believe the render.ini is actually in "appdata/local/Remedy/Alan Wake 2" not in the "roaming" folder like you've suggested in the instructions. Just for anyone that can't find it. ;)
im at one of the many parts of the game where there is a lock, only problem is the textures dont load and get better like in the base game, it just stays impossible to see. any way to fix this?

I have a RTX 3080 / Ryzen 7 7700x if anyone's curious.
