Could you optimize this mod for the new Alan Wake 2 version? It's kinda buggy right now, specially with lights

let them remove their fashionable mesh shaders and sales will rise, just nonsense, take and cut off 90% of video cards

s#*!'s too expensive, I have hobbies other than gaming I want to spend money on, I don't want to be buying a new rig every two years so I can play s#*! that could easily be developed to run with the same visuals on 5 year old mid tier hardware.

Starfield ran like a turd on my machine too... after a few optimization mods it runs at 45-60fps and looks the same to me that it did on the original "high" settings where it was running 5fps out of the box.

Who's asking for this "progress" anyway. I don't need to see authentic light reflections off the enemy's individual leg hairs. Just want a game that looks nice and plays nice, the past 5 years it's been diminishing returns with graphical improvements anyway, especially if you're not playing on a 60+ inch display.

Stop shitting on devs for using the whole spectrum of what this gen (and last gen) hardware is capable of! Mesh shaders DO make the game look incredibly nice and if you hate the fact that you can't play a brand new game on your 6+ year old hardware then either DON'T PLAY it or get your s#*! together and upgrade! I fully support giving developers and publishers crap for not optimizing and testing their games before they push them out the door, but this is not it. You have to accept the fact that the day will come when your 1080 is just obsolete. Deal with it.

Well let me stop you right there first of all. I'm not trying to play this game on 6-year-old Hardware. I have a gaming motherboard that I bought within the last 2 years, 16 GB of hyperx Fury RGB Ram, a 12th generation core i5 processor with six cores running at 4.2 GHz, an 8 GB graphics card which is capable of 8K resolution, my monitor is a 55 inch 4K television, and my hard drive is a 1 TB SSD installed on the M2 socket on my motherboard. And the hard drive happens to be a wd black. My build exceeds the requirements to run the game, but because of the mesh Shader requirement it runs like total ass even on minimal setting. That's absolutely unacceptable. I love the Alan wake series, but there is no reason why they could not have optimized this game to run on a graphics card without mesh Shader. I actually bought the graphics card that I'm using so I could play this game, and they did not make it abundantly clear that you needed a graphics card with mesh shaders in order for this game to run even on minimal setting. I can play any other game that there is on PC on at least 1080p and most of the time 4K setting. If you look into it this is one of the first games to require a mesh Shader. It is totally unreasonable for a company to publish a game that requires such a high cost Hardware requirement.. I'm a regular guy who has real world responsibilities and I live by myself. I understand that it's easy for people that live in their parents' basement when they're 35 and 40 years old and they don't have to pay rent or utilities and they don't have a car payment or insurance and gas cost to be able to play games on a $5,000 gaming rig. But I ain't got none of that s*** going on in my life. And I really have no appreciation for games that come with such a hefty Hardware requirement. I like to play games because I like the story and the environments and just the overall theme of the game. I don't have a need to see individual pores on a character's face during a cut scene. I also have absolutely no requirement to see individual hair strands on arms and legs. And I sure don't care about whether or not the blades of grass blow about in the Wind just like real grass does. It's called a game because you're supposed to get enjoyment from it when you play it. When it becomes a situation that requires you to spend hundreds of dollars to upgrade your Hardware just for that game, that totally defeats the purpose of it being a game to begin with because then it becomes a stressful situation. I'm sorry I wrote a whole dissertation for my reply. But I'm a very tech savvy person and I know how to build a computer from a box of parts. I can solder circuit boards and even build electronic circuits from scratch. And this is just the type of thing that makes people shy away from a game company in general.

"My build exceeds the requirements to run the game"
Emm, no, if no mesh shaders support - your gpu outdated, your 8 gig and support of 8k resolution means nothing.
Mesh shaders allow developers use 10+th times more complex geometry for any object on screen, this is called progress, and no, they must not limit current technology potencial because of some dude with half of decade old gpu, If everyone did this we would still be in the Stone Age or on Pentium 3.

" I actually bought the graphics card that I'm using so I could play this game, and they did not make it abundantly clear that you needed a graphics card with mesh shaders in order for this game to run even on minimal setting."
They did, its called system requirements, plus there was info about this before release.

"but there is no reason why they could not have optimized this game to run on a graphics card without mesh Shader"
Yes there is a reason, very simple one, if they didn't use mesh shaders  the game wouldn't look the way it does, or they must drop their vision of a game they want to make, downgrade graphics etc, just because of someone who cant keep up with progress??

Fact is simple, your pc not meeting requirements, deal with it/

there is really no reason for such a harsh reply, we are not in a court room

and yes, they made the game with such high specs for unknown reasons. control was released four years ago and didn't need mesh shaders to be astonishing. batman arkham knight was released 8 years ago and didn't need mesh shaders to be astonishing. even alien isolation, one of the most visually incredible games of the last decade came with a lighting ray calculation of their own that works just like rtx but isn't demanding. so yes, there are plenty of techniques that already exist that makes the use of mesh shaders pretty arbitrary.

second of all, it's steemed that only 7% of all pc players have what is necessary to run alan wake 2. if you were a developer, would you chose to make a game that so little of your fans can even run? I don't think so.

I personally blame epic games for this. being the publisher, they've clearly imposed some conditions on remedy. hell, even one of remedy's employees supported the use of mods to fix this optimization issue (because so far, with the many alternatives that exist, it's what it is). epic games have a taste for doing things not very interesting to the consumer interests, from their launcher to their store review system. but now, i believe this is an incentive (a fancy word for using a product that people love and expect to force the mesh shader requirement) for you to buy a graphics card that can not only run newer and more demanding games, but to more specifically run more demanding unreal engine 5 games. because, as you can figure, it's one thing that developers haven't really gone to in the last few years. showcase after showcase, unreal engine 5 still seems a wonder, but many developers still chose not to use it because if they chose to harness the full power of it, there would be few people who could run such games. and if they don't want to harness the full power of it, there is no reason to work on an unreal engine 5 license.

of course this isn't a reason for you to say that remedy is to blame for this. they were the victims in this story. i truly believe that if things were different, they would probably make a more "accessible" game, just like control in 2019. was it compatible with rtx then? sure. it was pratically a tech showcase by nvidia. but they made sure it would also work for the other 93% of players so they wouldn't lose fans and consumers. is it then their obligation to change these specs? no. not their obligation. but surely is something they could do.

finally, i can tell that we shouldn't stop evolving in technology. i could go on for quite a while only on how nvidia and rtx tecnhologies are practically the worst ever developed, because they are based on software to create physical simulations (while older games were based on hardware to create less accurate but still manageable visuals with faster response) and how in the end the 'best' technology isn't the one that achieves further, but the one that achieves further with less (just think of a bridge. you can create million columns to hold it in place, but a good construction uses less material to achieve the same result using techniques that use physics and high level engineering and mathematics that make the bridge cheaper and functional), but I won't. what we can do is see through the things that big corporations call revolutionary and forget that something simpler, more beautiful and accessible was already created years ago, and doing it again for a more expensive price is just wasting your money and insulting your intelligence.

Mesh shaders (or rather the thing that is transferrably equivalent to mesh shaders) are supported on the consoles hence they designed the game with it in mind.  The 2070 was released 5 years ago.  The 1660 GTX (which was an is a budget card) was released 4.5 years ago (March 14th, 2019).  This isn't asking you to upgrade every 2 years.  It's been half a decade.

The thing that holds PC back (console) is also the thing that drives it forward (console).  If your GPU, CPU, or whatever is weaker than a console in some way that is a strong moment to either upgrade your PC or get a console if you want to play all multiplatform games.  Otherwise on occasion you will not be able to handle a game.

Comparing to Control is rubbish since when it came out the consoles didn't support them or a similar technology, AMD didn't have a card out that supported it, and NVIDIA had a single generation that supported them.  Plus the game was already in deep development when the first card that supported them was released.

A lot changes in 5 years.  In 5 years we went from BlackBerry having one of the most popular phones to being virtually out of the phone business.  In that time we went from most phones having physical keyboards to not.  Things change and old hardware can't always keep up.

I think i fucking solve it, but i'm having some stuttering, i just changes some of the config file of the mod. Now i enter and exits from the mind place, and no blurry textures. But, i can't use the FG mod anymore. I'm using Lossless scaling instead. Here's my config file of the mod, try it. I change some of the memory textures value. My graphic card is a RTX 3050 laptop version, 4gb vram and 75w.

      dxvk.conf

If this doesn't work for you, just change some values, and try different configs in the file. But for me it worked!!

Hello, I hope someone reads me and helps me. I have a 4GB RTX 3050m and the game is doing very well in fps but bad in textures, and I don't buy the story that it is due to lack of vram because that problem in the last of us part 1 was fixed with a patch and in the case of alan wake 2 there was already a history of these failures with dx12 control because the dx11 version works normally but the dx12 has textures failing in the same configurations, does anyone know how I can manipulate the mod to test the game in dx11? Since they are made in the same graphics engine, maybe I fixed my plastic textures when entering and leaving the writer's mind

You need Windows 10/11 the latest update 22H2(min) to run this game. They just missed this important thing in the recommendation. If you haven't it, you received msg like "your GPU is not supported". Even if you have 20xx+ series or AMD 6xxx+.
