WoW this is actually a really impressive change. This one mod makes the game so much better. Now I feel like my lower tier melee aren't going to die in one shot, or get archer-ed down before they can get into striking range. It also makes it so those healing and buff spell actually have a point. So many things before felt like they had no purpose since everything died too fast. Thanks so much for putting in the time to do this.
On a side note, if your still up to doing a mod for this game, could you look into making it so in the campaign. if your heroes die they re-spawn after a while like your leader instead of an instant game over? Or maybe a building where you have to buy them back?. I get that they are important to the story but come on, my empire shouldn't be crushed just because one hero lost one fight!
Since you've already used the mod, can I ask, is this mod compatible with Chivalrous Intentions? The mod adds new units to the game and some other features so I was wondering if I can use the two together. I don't have many AoW mods. Very few in fact. So I'm still quite a noob at this compared to Skyrim.
My experience is that it makes for a more difficult start for the human player. For example, clearing mana nodes are not so easy in the early game especially against those confounded wisps which are no longer 1 shot kills and can lead to increased human casualties.
My experience has been that the AI handles the battles surprisingly very well. I'm not seeing any evidence of over powering or imbalance in favour of human players.
When compared to vanilla, I have found that the weight of battles favours defence over offence especially against fortified positions. For me this is a good thing.
This may lead to AI attacking positions that are more easily defensible, but I feel this is minor. If I were to make any adjustment to the mod at all it would be in the calculation of the odds when assessing a potential battle weighted in favour of defence.
I like the changes and incidentally, I answered yes to all 3 of your questions in the description.
I noticed with the reduction in movement points the trebuchet could not move and fire in the same turn. I don't know if that was intended but I think it was in fact an improvement to gameplay. Likewise for the 3 shot ranged units, where at least for some, any movement at all reduced the number of shots. It brings it closer to standard war game play.
