F-14B -Trigger's Bird-

This is my take on the Trigger campaign liveries for Lanzerince's F-14B Tomcat aircraft addon. It's kind of like a successor to the "Trigger Custom" skin set I did for the F-14A, and also that F-14D one.

The walkway panels for this were re-done with custom weathering (they're wider and longer than usual but it’s not without precedent). I also cleaned up some of the grime on the MREC so it doesn't look as dirty and splatter-y.

Mage and Spare variants took some elements from VF-154 "Black Knights", VF-101 "Grim Reapers" and VF-211 "Fighting Checkmates". Straight 3-tone Tactical Paint Scheme. It also features a "spot paint" effect over some panel seams to replicate wear. Spare variant has slightly more weathering and the paints are a bit more faded.

Strider variant is closely based off of F-14B 162919 "DEVIL 101/AA-101" as seen in 1992 with its "Olympic Rings" livery, used by the CO/XO of VF-74 "Be-Devilers". It sports a nonstandard single tone scheme in FS36320 all around with high-visibility markings. There are some creative liberties I took, like referencing a different variation of the VF-74 tail logo that had blue colors rather than red within the "sights". Weathering was also reduced to make it look more like something that only recently left the depot. Peep the drop tanks, too. The modex is "100" instead of the standard "15/115" to better fit Trigger's role as Strider's squadron leader.

Note that the tailcodes are also different from the "FG" and "WW" people are used to, in favor of those more befitting of naval aircraft - "NG" and "AA" which I think are reasonably close.

TRIGGER:

  • Custom OMDF markings for Trigger depicting his changes in squadrons and status (VF-508/"Spare"/VF-124) throughout the Lighthouse War. For skin slots 4, 5, and 6.

As with my previous skins, textures use BC7 compression with mipmaps disabled to improve in-game quality. Let me know what you think and if you encounter any bugs.
