Has this mod been updated? On the Aircraft select screen it looks normal. But when its ready to play, the second 3d pilot model appears on the nose of the plane. Has this been fixed and repaired recently? I couldn't watch the game replay with the second pilot hanging on the front of the nosecone. LOL
No its because there's no good Harrier model out there. We discovered a website with AH's models a while back but by then we modders were too focused on doing other, much more advanced/better mods by that time
Well, the AI Harrier model in AC7 is EXACTLY the same model as AH & INF, a few years ago Dantofu did a mod which contains textures from AH since the UV mapping are the same.
Note the higher polycount, especially on the nozzles. Granted I'd just suggest asking RB-D2 to use PW's Harrier, since it has full 4k texturing without a mirrored underside.
Had plans to reply it early, but spmclaug showcased a example from the AH/ACI model, but in case, giving some extra details as bonus
Yeah, the AV-8B+ model(along F-117A, B-1B, B-2A, AC-130[C-130 begin a edited version of it], AH-64D) are rehashed from AH/ACI, the bulletpoints from the Harrier model used in AC7 are :
-By begin a CPU unit, it only includes a static mesh, both GearOn/GearOff static meshes(unlike the player aircraft _SM that uses a lower LOD group to avoid GearOff_SM use), and a DAM model, used for the steel carnage effect when shotting down it
-Didn't checked yet with calm, but i would assume they used the o_/d_ model groups, which were the models used by the CPU units, as indeed, when you compare to the player models(p_), they got more details and modeling definition noticeable
-They gave some tweaks on the textures based on the original template of AH ones, seeing they already were made by the color customization function, so tweaking them was already easier, noticeable to mention they had to convert the specular maps to MREC, and restructuring the normals map color channels, as on AC6/AH they were Green/Alpha, instead of RGB
-From current assets the original player model from AH has, are the fuselage/body, cockpit, gears that can be animated, the VTOL nozzles separated, and pylon sets
-Some tweaks the model would be requiring would be separating the probe from the main mesh for making a RefuelOn/RefuelOff, maybe switching the low-res cockpit of the player model with a tweaked copy of the cockpit one(as yeah, from the time of AC6 they had to avoid making medium detailed cockpits by polygon count)
-And like spmclaug said, mirrored wing bottom UVs begin a issue(at few cases stablizers on some models too, which isn't Harrier's case by begin single tail), as AC6/AH/ACI models unlike the AC7 ones, they weren't through with unique symmetry in mind(very very few exception begin the F-15C on ACZ(along the Morgan too, which isn't a issue on ACI as suprisingly, the model was rehashed of the ACZ one), which they made an unique UV edit for Pixy's skin, but they weren't able to replicate on AC6/AH probably by oversight or UV space limitation), this to a extent can be worked by a mixture of texture baking and UV rearrangement, but yeah, few tried at doing this on the AH/ACI ports by not having such guidance of the steps required to do at Blender
Didn't checked Arby's Harrier model aside of the PW in-game overview from videos/photos, the details i know few tend to use his models would be bad UV work on some models like the CF-104's case, not so good weathering/paneling of the textures, as some details may look different compared to PA which had clear reference of the real aircraft, and not sure if the unique tweaks to make them distinct would fit the bet of "avoiding license legal issues", and cockpits not begin the strongest of Arby's modeling, as yeah some doesn't like the cockpit models he made for PW
But yeah, comments aside, nice to see M4rkoz learning at making custom player aircraft models to an extent, for a brief conversion indeed it looks good checking at the photos
Thanks for the extensive reply once again Rythus, though, must say, I'm nowhere near skilled enough to pull off a proper full-scale ACI/ACAH-to-AC7 port yet, but right now I'm working on something of a relatively smaller scale to get to know the mechanisms and details better, but with time I'm planning to port the ACAH Harrier too, sounds like a cool thing to do
Indeed, practicing the process is something cool despite it can be dificult without any clear guidance like a guide documentation at first, enjoy at learning and improving the understatement of the process until you feel comfortable at doing the AH port
(BTW i hate how Nexus tracking works...compared to the standalone comment i did on the Su-47 mod, due i replied this post, by i not begin the "author" of the comment originally, Nexus didn't notified me about it, so i went receiving notifications from the ADFX-00, but didn't received the notification of your comment, sorry about the reply delay in case)
Aigaion would be hilarious. Especially if it had a "UAV" SPW that launched Strigon Squadron Skinned SU-33s that stuck around the entire mission flying with you and Burst Missile ADMMs to simulate Nimbus Missiles. Last SPW could be a several KM Wide ESM Net.
Thank you, but I don't think I'm gonna update it with cockpit and animations for two reasons: 1. The model doesn't allow me to as it is not rigged; 2. I simply do not have enough knowledge for it yet But later on, I might go back to this and use the ACAH model instead

Any chance we can get a GR variant Harrier loadout with bombs and rockets?
It's lower poly (I think) and isn't rigged
and the ACAH/ACI playermodel:

Might I suggest a
Can't know when though, busy these days
