Looks great. As honest feedback, and this applies to the Viper MiG-21 as well, it would be really nice to have versions with the full set of decals that can replace skins 1-3 as well.
Personally, I prefer not to replace the story-specific 4-6 skins whenever possible, and the games own implementation of emblems on skins 1-3 is, well, less than optimal. Being unable to mix and match them, as well as the size and placement of some emblems just being plain ugly. It's nice to be able to turn those emblems off and go with better, intricately placed ones that are a part of the livery itself, as was the case with your great Cipher livery.
That's my take at least. My efforts to unpack the pak files, and rename them to replace a different skin of choice haven't gone that smoothly. In some cases resulting in something that brings back memories of multiplayer in Assault Horizon.
Thanks! You're actually the first person to ask me about that. I was hoping to avoid having to separate them because it's easier to make mistakes during export since I'm dealing with duplicate filenames, but I figured this was going to happen sooner or later. New files should be ready for download later today for both Omega and Viper.
As for manual replacement... since these were made using UE4 editor, the textures will have to be extracted, re-imported, renamed, and exported inside the editor to work properly. You were seeing blurry purple checkerbox, right? The names contained within the asset/metadata were still using originals.
Yeah, sorry about that. I did at least try seeing if I could do it myself first, but figured that's what the issue would be. What happened was actually trying to move the ISAF F-22 from Skin 6 to 2, and the result was a kind of a metallic green, red and purple. Really did look like the kind of thing people would fly in ACAH multiplayer. Probably good for a TVR fan. I know its a pain and I'd rather avoid it asking about it as well. Trying to cover all the various scenarios is a lot of extra work creating and then uploading the variations. Hopefully, when things get a bit more organised in the future, a good, centralised resource pops up that'll make the steps involved more accessible, rather than so much falling on the modders shoulders. Right now, it feels like a lot of the information is spread out amongst different locations, making it harder to track down.
Just a shame how they decided to implement it all. I get that a lot of people probably like the customisation of emblems, but the lack of details and decals kind of makes me just not want to use skins 1-3 in the standard game. It's especially sad for things like the enemy aces liveries.
I think everyone agrees that emblem customization was a hard miss. Even if it had JA's system the square boundary would have caused scaling issues with many emblems that don't conform to 1:1 ratio.
Good thing Mobius Raptor will be 1st part of the season pass, but I dislike that skins are spread across the three DLC dates, especially since Sol liveries by all accounts are already in the game and aren't exactly brand new.
Anyway, the new files should be up for both Viper and Omega. I'll go with this file format from now on and not deal with individual optional files to make upload management easier.
Yup, downloaded and endorsed on both counts~ Both taking Skin 2 for the Typhoon and MiG-21, behind the UPEO Typhoon and Pop's MiG-21 taking their respective skin 1's. Thanks again, the flexibility is much appreciated!
