Overview

This save game is a Single Player Survival game in Navezgane that contains a platform built over a deep pit. The platform is blank so you can build your own custom base on top of it, and the pit is empty so you can build your own defenses. The save game is still on Day 1 and has no cheated items or loot.

I built this base as a template for future bases so I don't have to re-build it again later. Since it took so long to make just this base version of it, I thought I'd share it for others to enjoy. This platform base is what happens when a carpenter by trade designs a base for the zombie apocalypse. Built to last. It's 39x39 around the pit, and 14 blocks deep, and the platform is 31x31.

The game does contain several chests of stone, wood, minerals etc (as well as the loot from a few zombies) that was farmed during the construction of the platform pit. My character in the game has boosted stats from Meat Stew and a couple console edits for quicker mining.

Check out my much improved save game, The Dark Tower. Designed mainly for solo play or up to 3 players. It has 3 options... an empty platform to build on, an empty tower for you to furnish and setup, and a well equipped tower you can use to jump into the action.

Game Settings

The game's settings were modded to make construction and mining easier, as well as some of the settings I prefer for my casual play style. I strongly recommend reviewing the settings before you launch the game to make sure they are set to your preferences. One key one you'll likely want to change is the Block Damage/Durability setting.

Base Location

You can find the platform at roughly 980N 666E. It's located in the forest biome, just north of the large cornfield farm and a river.

Customize

The platform has drawbridges and a ladder down into the pit, but is blank aside from that so you can make your own custom base on it however you like.

I strongly suggest you cover the bottom of the pit with Log Spikes and upgrade them as you can, especially around the perimeter. The fall won't kill the zombies. Leave yourself room to walk around and repair them. You might also want a railing on the platform so you don't bust your legs like I did many times during construction!

There's a single block/pedestal in the centre of the platform so you can plop your Land Claim Block and prevent spawnage all over your base and the pit.

How To Change Characters

So I did some testing, and it's easy to switch the playable character to one of your choosing. You could also do this to load a character you've built in another save game, and the character will also keep all inventory and belt items. You could even do this to copy a character into a multiplayer game assuming you have access to the hosting machine.

  • First, make a backup of your save game, just in case.
  • Choose the profile you want to use and create a new temporary game.
  • Exit the new game and a save will be made.
  • Navigate to the folder containing the new game, then copy the Player folder and players.xml file to the save game where you want a new character.
  • Load up the save game you've modified and presto, you've got a character of your own to play with.

Important: Wherever the character is location-wise in the game you copy them from is where they will appear in the game you copy them to. So don't copy a character in the middle of a player-built base, underground, etc. Move the character first. Might be advisable to make sure they are standing still as well, and not falling etc.

Notes

  • To use this map in a multiplayer game, follow these quick instructions. Notepad++ for the win.
  • No mods were used for this game.
  • You'll see random stone/dirt blocks here and there in the area from the TNT I used.
  • There's a small bunker with 4 chests in it where I stored items safely from the TNT shrapnel. In them you'll find all the resources I farmed while making the platform base, including the odd bit of zombie loot.

Troubleshooting

If anyone has difficulty in getting the save game to work, please let me know in the comments with as much detail about any errors etc as you can. I'll do my best to help get it working for you.
