Overview

This save game is an SP Survival game in Navezgane with a tower base over a very deep pit that is difficult to attack and easy to defend. Choose from 3 levels of construction: empty platform, empty tower or fully equipped tower. The save game is still on Day 1 and has no cheated items or loot. The base is best used for 1-3 players.

I built this base as a template for future bases so I don't have to re-build it again later. Since it took so long to make, I thought I'd share it for others to enjoy. It's 21x21 around the very deep pit, and the platform is 15x15. The pit is deep enough that most zombies will die from the fall into it.

For a larger base for multiplayer, try my Platform Pit Base save game. It's ideal for larger MP games, or a really expansive SP base.

Game Settings

The game's settings were modded to make construction and mining easier, as well as some of the settings I prefer for my casual play style. I strongly recommend reviewing the settings before you launch the game to make sure they are set to your preferences. One key one you'll likely want to change is the Block Damage/Durability setting.

Base Location

You can find the platform at 880N 502E. It's located in the forest biome, just west of the large cornfield farm and beside a river.

Download Options & Customization

The platform has a drawbridge or two depending on the download you choose, and a ladder down into the pit. In the two tower downloads there's a single block/pedestal in the centre of the platform so you can plop your Land Claim Block and prevent spawnage all over your base and the pit.

Dark Tower - Bare Platform

This file has just the empty platform for you to build your base as you see fit. On the side of the platform opposite the drawbridge are 3 chests with the loot I collected while building it.

Dark Tower - Empty Tower

This file has the Dark Tower built on the platform, but no furnishings of any kind. There is a chest inside the tower with the loot I collected while building it.

Dark Tower - Equipped Tower

This file has the Dark Tower built on the platform and is setup for survival.

1st/Main Floor:
Storage chests that contain the loot I farmed while constructing the base, plus 2 Forges, 2 Workbenches, 2 Concrete Mixers, 4 Campfires and 1 Chemistry Station. The Forges and Campfires are fully equipped except for a Tool & Die Set.
2nd & 3rd Floors: Empty and ready for your expansion. Setup a living area maybe, a dance hall, a hoarder hidey, your choice.
4th/Top Floor: Fully equipped farm with all the essential crops.

How To Change Characters

I did some testing, and it's easy to switch the playable character to one of your choosing. You could also do this to load a character you've built in another save game, and the character will also keep all inventory and belt items. You could even do this to copy a character into a multiplayer game assuming you have access to the hosting machine.

  • First, make a backup of your save game, just in case.
  • Choose the profile you want to use and create a new temporary game.
  • Exit the new game and a save will be made.
  • Navigate to the folder containing the new game, then copy the Player folder and players.xml file to the save game where you want a new character.
  • Load up the save game you've modified and presto, you've got a character of your own to play with.

Important: Wherever the character is location-wise in the game you copy them from is where they will appear in the game you copy them to. So don't copy a character in the middle of a player-built base, underground, etc. Move the character first. Might be advisable to make sure they are standing still as well, and not falling etc.

Notes

  • To use this map in a multiplayer game, follow these quick instructions. Notepad++ for the win.
  • No mods were used for this game.
  • You'll see random stone/dirt blocks here and there in the area from the TNT I used.
Troubleshooting

If anyone has difficulty in getting the save game to work, please let me know in the comments with as much detail about any errors etc as you can. I'll do my best to help get it working for you.
